Re-listing! Ended my previous auction early with no bids because I had problems starting the car. Narrowed it down to the carb, which has been rebuilt. Eight years of minimal use and ethanol gas took its toll on the Demon…now good as new! Also had some issues with a loose wire smoking at the positive battery cable, which has been replaced. Final issue addressed was a slow trans fluid leak. Pan straightened out and new gasket installed. Problem solved. Fresh oil and filter. Ready to roll!
For your consideration is my 1974 Plymouth Barracuda with a 440ci engine, Demon carburetor, and automatic transmission. Actual miles unknown…rallye dash and motor are not original to car. I have both the fender tag and build sheet for the car, which left the factory as a Rallye Red 318ci, AT, PS, PB, A/C, with white interior.
I bought the car on eBay back in 2004 and drove it for about 3 years as a daily driver. In 2007, I had the car restored while I was deployed overseas. The car was disassembled down to a rolling chassis and soda blasted prior to being re-finished/re-painted. The guy who did the resto was a decent mechanic, but a body & paint man he was not. He had another guy do most of the work and he wasn’t all that great either. The hood has bubbling/cracking/paint loss in two places, the left front fender has two cracks in the paint just above the wheel well, and there are a dozen other minor paint/body imperfections here and there. Bottom Line: She needs to be re-painted at some point or just do what I did…use it as a daily driver/project car and accept her little imperfections.
Interior was redone. Seats front and rear are like new. Headliner and dash have been replaced also. Interior panels are all pretty nice except for the driver’s side door panel. It is really scratched up and should be replaced. Vintage Air A/C added. Recently serviced…blows cold.
Car has a brand new Kenwood single CD deck with remote, USB and auxiliary port; Kenwood 640W 4 channel amp (mounted in trunk); 6.5” Kenwoods in the kick panels; and 6x9” Kenwoods in the rear package tray.
Car has Weld Racing Pro Star wheels. Like new Futura GLS Super Sport P275/60R15’s on the rear. P235/60R15’s on the front. Air shocks allow for a good 2-3” of lift on the back end.
Car comes with a repro owner’s manual, an original 74 MOPAR Parts Catalog, a 74 Dodge Chassis Service Manual, and a 74 Chrysler Plymouth Body Service Manual. Space saver spare in trunk, along with air bottle. Jack & jack stand refinished.
If you hit “Buy it Now”, I’ll throw in a hard to find floor mount cassette player and a few other goodies! Like most Chrysler cassette players you find out there, its working condition is unknown, but you could have it restored.
Carpet will get wet if the car sits outside in a heavy rain. I have always kept it in a garage or carport. Suggest you do the same.
I hate to get rid of her, but family/work priorities have changed and I just don’t have time to enjoy the car. I believe the car is fairly priced for what it is. I am not desperate to sell, so no low ball offers please.
