Price: US $1,000.00
For sale is my 1970 Plymouth Barracuda painted In-Violet with a 383 and a reverse valve body 727 automatic. I bought it in April 2014 as a drag car from the second owner who had it since 1981. It has not seen rain or snow since then and has always been stored in a climate controlled garage. I made it street legal in the summer of 2014 and have driven it very sparingly since then. I want to move on to another project so it is time to sell it.
Here are some of the build specifics from the previous owner:
The car was professionally built by Legend Racing in Schaumburg, IL in the early 2000s. It has a fiberglass hood, front header, fenders and trunk lid. The 383 has 13.5:1 compression with iron heads, roller cam and roller rockers, MSD distributor, 6AL, Blaster coil and Hooker Super Comp headers with 2 primaries, electric water pump, . I don't have much more information on the engine than that. Transmission has about a 3, 000 RPM stall converter with a super tight shift kit and external cooler. I don't have much more information on the transmission than that. Chassis has a 10 point roll cage, two racing seats with 5 point harnesses, narrowed and reinforced 8 3/4 rear end with 489 center and 4.56 gears with spool, back-halved, tubbed, four link rear, full frame ties, 4 wheel disc brakes with roll stop / line lock, Koni coil over adjustable shocks in the rear, Koni 90/10 drag shocks on the front, all new steering components, Flaming River steering column with removable steering wheel, 10 gallon fuel cell, Holley electric fuel pump, mini starter, Autometer gauges, dash remolded by Just Dashes, etc.
The previous owner only raced the car nine times. He ran a best 10.98 ET at 134 MPH in the quarter. The car has more ET in it but it was never dialed in.
When I bought the car, I installed a passenger seat with harness, a short exhaust system with 3 1/2 straight through racing mufflers, wired all exterior lighting, installed Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R radial tires, replaced the ignition wires, installed a Derale dual electric fan setup, Mopar voltage regulator (alternator), Year One reproduction sport mirrors, hockey stick stripes, installed a fire extinguisher and heavy duty aluminum transmission cooler. I have never raced the car. The engine starts immediately, runs great with a nasty sound, has 80 psi of oil pressure cold, 40 psi hot at idle and 80 psi while driving. Coolant temperature never goes over 180 deg F driving on the street with the electric water pump and fans. It is very fun to drive.
Inspect the car before bidding if needed. Please ask any questions and I will get back to you promptly. Thank you.
