This is a true H code 1970 340 4spd number's matching B5 Blue with blue interior Plymouth Duster. This car is a very good example of an unmolested 1970 Duster. The car would be an easy restore with very little rust. The only major rust in the car that I know of is in the left lower quarter panel (picture attached). The paint I believe to be original besides the rattle can black engine compartment and blue painted engine. The paint is sun faded down to bare metal in spots. I have the original build sheet and fender tag is attached to car. I also have the warranty card as well. The car runs and drives very well.
Engine #'s matching 340. The engine seems to runs very well although I have not had the engine a part myself so I do know details other than it has been painted a blue color and intake has been painted an aluminum color. The car does have original exhaust manifolds as far as I know.
Carb should be the correct part number Carter AVS although not original to the car. I rebuilt this carb myself and seems to operate very well.
Distributor should be the correct part number dual points distributor and has been rebuilt also and seems to operate very well. It is not original to the car.
The engine compartment has been unfortunately rattle can painted black.
I have not had the transmission a part although it seems to operate correctly. I did rebuilt the original Hurst 4spd shifter. The trans is #'s matching. It may need a new throw out bearing. The driveshaft is not original to the car. Must have been damaged at some point.
I disassembled rear axle assembly and differential, blasting and painting housings, and replaced seals. I have pictures of axle markings before I blasted it so they can be recreated. The differential has factory sure grip limited slip unit and 3.23 gears.
I rebuilt the front and rear suspension incl; sand blasting and painting all parts, replacing all bushings and ball joints. Factory front sway bar car as comes with the 340 package. Manual steering system seems to be fairly tight so I did not replace any tie rod ball joints.
I rebuilt the compete brake system incl; blasting a painting components, new front caliper piston seals and pads, new rear cylinders and shoes, new master cylinder and front hoses. Also repacked front and rear wheel bearings. Front 4 piston disc brakes also came factory with the 340 option.
Gas tank is a new repop with new fuel sending unit.
The interior and trunk floors have been cleaned and treated with POR15 and then painted B5 Blue. There was a couple small pin holes in front drivers floor pan that was plugged with POR epoxy before coating.
The seats have been rebuilt with new foam and covering. I also installed new door panels front and rear and new dash pad. I do have interior paint from Kolor Korrect. I also have a new headliner although not installed. All gauges work properly. I installed and aftermarket tach that fits in factory location. Shifter boot ring is new. I rebuilt the heater box with new heater core, door foam, and seals. All heater controls work properly. It also has the original radio (nonfunctioning). The instrument cluster is in good restorable shape (not all cut and cracked up).
I believe the trunk is complete with spare tire (may be original?), new spare tire cover board, jack and components, plastic light covers, original trunk mat (torn in several spots), and also original spare tire/jack instructions sticker.
The body has several dents and surface rust from sitting in the sun. The right front fender has been replaced although not in the best shape. I have a brand new still in the box AMD replacement right front fender and right door skin (although door can probably be repaired. The only major rust spot on the whole car is the left lower quarter has a small hole rusted through. The grille is in good restorable shape.
I replaced the tires with new reproduction Goodyear bias ply tires as would have came with from the factory. I blasted and repainted the original rally rims and also original center caps. The trim rings are repops as I only have one of the originals.
I have spent a lot of time cleaning up and working on this car to make it a good driving car again. I have too many projects and need to sell. This is a very original and mostly complete car that should be a very easy correct restoration candidate. I do have some other misc. parts that will come with the car such as headrests (black and need restored). It is very hard to find a car like this in this day and age. The car is located near Fargo, ND, please call with any questions 1-701-552-3736. The buyer is responsible for shipping. Sorry, no international buyers. A $500.00 nonrefundable deposit is required within 24 hrs. after auction ends. I will accept cash or bank cashiers check only. There is no warranty on this car and no returns.
