Price: US $10,000.00
This is what the prior owner had to say about the car history:
I have owned this Duster Twister for the last
17 years. It was bought new by Mrs. Wellan from Bellevue Washington. She was
51 when she bought it on October 1, 1971. She passed away in 1997 and my Father in law and I purchased it from her
son in law in 1998. She kept it in garages
or car ports and I have had it in storage in my pole barn for the last 17
years. It’s had one repaint in the mid-seventies
when there was some damage to the top edge on the driver’s side fender and
corner of the hood. The shop replaced
the driver’s side fender and repaired the corner. There is no damage at all to the inner supports. She said she was glad to have it painted as
the flat black hood and strips where a bit sportier than she liked. It has the original mileage of 37k. It was being driven on the original Goodyear
power cushion white wall tires when I bought it. I kept one of them when I changed them over
to radials. I have the broadcast sheet
that was under the rear seat. I have
replaced the intake manifold gaskets (motor was spotless inside) and points and
rebuilt the carb. It runs like it left
the factory. The front brakes had
leaking wheel cylinders which I replaced with new correct number matching NOS
pieces. I also replaced the front brake
shoes with NOS and had the drums turned. The rears are original. It stops
perfect. They are power drums. All glass is original to the car and is like
new. The windshield is flawless with no
rock chips or damage. Headliner is nice
just a few small holes. Seats and the
entire interior are original. Underside
of the car has just light surface rust. All
suspension parts are original even the shocks. I had the muffler replaced with a NOS unit a few years ago. The original alternator I had sent off for
refinishing and returned. A paint job
and some re-chroming of the sport mirrors and bumpers due to some light pitting
is all it need, very easy restoration. If
it doesn't sell I will be happy to hang on to it. The reserve is very reasonable. Sorry, but please don't ask me to end the
auction early...Thanks A51 Twister package B11 HD 10 Drum brakes B51

Since then, the car has been treated a new
paint job, new shocks, and new tires.
It
does have a power steering leak, coolant leak, and a vacuum leak at the
carburetor which is noticeable at idle. It does however, accelerate very smoothly, runs and drives like new, and
stops in a straight line without holding the steering wheel. I have had the brakes inspected and adjusted
at a local tire and brake shop. There is
one area where the paint will need to be touched up and I have a partial can of
the paint used.
I have a binder full of information regarding the car. I also have a box of original parts that were removed from the car over the years.

“For a 45 year old original car it is in very good condition. A couple of small leaks. The front seat upholstery has a couple of small splits, the headliner has a few small holes, the carpet is faded and has a small cigarette burn from many years ago, the AM radio reception is poor. There is a scratch in the paint near the tail light that needs touched up. The original chrome mirrors and bumpers are not perfect. There is some minor surface rust on the under side and under the original trunk mat. There is no rust repair needed.” |
