I purchased this car in April of 2010 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway , it was a South Carolina car . This is what I have done and in this order , the transmission was rebuilt and a mild shift kit installed . The starter was also replaced . Next the black top was replaced with a new white one from Rick`s Upholstery including painting and greasing the frame and a glass rear window . On 8/21/2010 install new air shocks and lines on rear along with axle bearings and inner and outer seals , Fan clutch , all new belts , new over size radiator and hoses and clamps , anti-freeze , Remanufactured Power Steering Pump and fluid , replace front shocks , cut all four drums install new wheel cylinders , shoes and springs and hardware . Shortly after the Power Brake Booster and the Master Cylinder were also replaced . A new Holly Performance carb was put on . Three years ago this month I purchased a new battery . Last fall I heard a noise in the front right and had it checked out . The upper ball joint was just starting to show signs of wear . Lowers were fine , so both uppers were replaced and a wheel alignment was done . This summer a cracked front wind shield was replaced , all the glass is good but it could use new weather seals . Also this summer besides points , plugs cap and rotor , a new coil and ballast resistor were replaced , and a starter motor . I use this car only in nice weather and drive it locally to family and friends and a weekly car show . She turns heads everywhere I go and runs very good . The 440 is from a 1972 , I was told this by not only the fellow I purchased the car from . But the shop that does all the mechanical work they looked at the number on the block to confirm it . She has some rattles when you shut the door , but she sounds great driving down the road . This is not a street machine , it`s a nice looking affordable classic old convertible from the 60`s . The interior is all original including the carpet . The floors, trunk and frame have no rust , at some time on the lower rear quarters small repairs were made . From looking inside the trunk you see no evidence of a big fix anywhere . There is no spare by the way . The tires are 18`s on the front and 20`s on the rear ., it came this way .
