Description:

1973 Plymouth Road Runner / GTX
EXTREMELY RARE - ONE OF 117 - LOW MILES - CLEAN CAR - VERY RARE FIND
I hate to put up this beautiful car from my collection for sale, but here it is. A very rare and beautiful example of a real muscle car. Almost impossible to find one like this. This is a collector item. This car has been in my indoor storage for years and rarely driven. It has absolutely no rust. Interior is in great shape. Paint is all original and in great condition. It runs and drives without any problem.
In 1972, Plymouth ceased production of the GTX as a stand-alone model, leaving the Road Runner as Plymouth's premier full size muscle car offering. However, in 1972-1974 if a Road Runner was ordered with the optional 440 engine, it became a Road Runner/GTX. In 1972, the GTX version could be identified by GTX emblems on the front fenders and trunk lid, but in 1973 and 1974, the GTX emblem could only be found on the performance hood scoop just above the 440 emblem.
Plymouth road runner/GTXs are indeed a rare bird. Only around 650 were produced in '72 with eve decreasing numbers in '73 and '74. In 1973, a total of 17, 433 road runners were built and although Chrysler's records are somewhat unreliable, research indicates that there were less than 300 GTX versions, and in '74 fewer than 100 were made. And according to the Motortrend's International Red Book, only 117 were actually produced in 1973. No matter what the actual numbers were, the '73 road runner/GTX is a very rare bird.
This 1973 road runner/GTX is equipped with :
440 cid High Performance Engine
A-727 Torque Flight Transmission
3, 55 Sure-Grip Differential
The paint is Forrest Green Metallic (JY5) which is original, and of the 17, 443 road runners built in '73 only about 1, 100 of them were painted this color. In addition, only around 700 had the special order gold interior (D6Y4). This car is also equipped with factory air conditioning, very rare in the early '70s and the original General Scrambler spare tire is still in the trunk. By the way, air conditioning works just fine.
The car is registered in CA with a clear title under my name. I have copies of the original built sheet and window sticker. One small ding due to an unfortunate recent incident by my 10 year old son is shown in the photos. (He is still doing chores to make up his mistake-thankfully, it is an easy fix and we will get it repaired)
