1963 Plymouth Valiant Signet 200 Convertible
We are the third owner of this car and purchased it in South Haven Michigan in July of 2002. I have several receipts from the previousowner of work he had done. Since we owned the car we have replaced the starter, brakes, distributor and carburetor. The car was painted before we bought it and I had the tops of the doors inside and out painted to make it look fresh. We used the car for fun drives like car shows and out for ice cream. It only saw the rain once in all the years we owned it, bad judgement call on my part, or maybe I just believed the weather guy, go figure. I also don't really like driving the car with the top up, that only happened once on a trip from the Morris Car Show it was late October and it was really cold. It's a great little car and gets a lot of thumbs up I think because it's Red and people just don't know what kind of car it is. It has pushbutton shifter on the left side of the dash and has a lever to shift to park. Things it needs: door belt moldings, turn signal switch, I have one but never put it in. Not sure why, they work just won't cancel when you turn to the rightso I just pull it down to shut it off. One of the convertible arms needs to be welded but you would need to remove the top and the top is good except for the front bead, someone used yellow weather strip glue to hold it down, not sure why anyone would use yellow on a white top but since I never drive with the top up doesn't really bother me. I did paint it with some white vinyl paint and it's not that noticeable. Another problem is sometimes the speedo sticks and doesn't work.I replaced the cable once and that helped but not all the time. In 1963 the Valiant had a few different options for the roof, power or manual. This car has a switch on the dash but it's manual. Also the radio never worked and I refused to install a aftermarket one so I found a used that I bought from ebay. Yeah, that one didn't work either. So I settled for my Iphone during the drive. Someone cut a hole for speakers in the door panels, round so they could be covered if you put speakers in, youknow the kind I mean. This car is awesome to drive and I am confident driving this car any distance. The previous owner had new exhaust made as you can see from the rear pictures and has two pipes out the back. It's sounds really good for a six cylinder, not noisy but very nice tone. Any questions just send me a message or give me a call 708-372-7253
