1973 Plymouth Road Runner

Plymouth Road Runner (1973)
for sale

Price: US $6,651.00

Description:

Up for auction is a genuine Roadrunner which was built into a high class race car for the local cruise nights. The person who built this car spared no expense and assembled it with top end, high dollar components. He also went to great lengths to maintain the originality of the car so it still has its original dash with working gauges, carpeting, rear seats, side and door panels, headliner, working lights, wiper, and signals, etc. This is a car that will lift the front tires off the ground on the track yet still have the mostly original look in and out when you hang out at the cruise nights. In fact, the guy who built it planned to use it for car shows and cruise nights rather than full time racing but still wanted it to perform like the real thing. The car is an actual road runner and could be converted back at some point if you really wanted to. Because the headliner, dash, gauges, etc. are all original and in place, converting it back to original appearance would entail removing the roll cage and race seats and installing correct seats. Whatever was removed from this car could be sold for pretty good money. This car cost more than 40k to build it as you see here. The car comes with it's original fender tag and build sheet.
Engine: Iron 440 block stroked to 505 cubes with ported aluminum Indy heads and gasket matched Indy Intake. Jet coated large tube headers, Holley 950 carb, MSD ignition and billet distributor. Aluminum radiator with twin flexalite electric fans. 3 stainless magna flow exhaust with magna flow mufflers. Only a few miles on this engine...mainly just to get the car dialed in. new steel gas tank. In the driver area are a full set of racing gauges and also a data logger with air fuel ratio display.
Trans: 727 built bullet proof tough with 3500 stall converter, reverse manual valve body, trans cooler, pro shifter, driveshaft loop, Line lock. Rear: Dana 60 rear with 3.73 gears and 35 spline strange axles. Suspension and brakes: 4 wheel discs, all suspension rebuilt with Cal Track set up in the rear, rear mono leaf springs, 15 Weld Star aluminum wheels with new Mickey Thompson 33x15.5 rears. The car has mini tubs to fit the rear tires but it was done so nicely that most people wouldn't know it. The rear seats and panels are not modified so all looks good inside. New Flaming River steering box. Battery is Optima gel battery mounted properly in trunk. Every bracket and bolt on this car is high quality stuff. Seats are Kirkby race seats. Paint and body: The paint is what I would call a 20 footer. It was definitely done nicely and has lots of shine to it but there are a few scratches here and there that hurt, mostly around the hood area. Even the trunk area was painted nicely. If the scratches were touched up, I'd rate the paint much higher. Also, someone had too tall of an air cleaner on it at some point and put a small upward dent in the middle when they closed it on the carb air cleaner stud. A lower profile air cleaner is in place now with has good hood clearance but the damage is done now. Not terribly noticeable but it needed to be mentioned in this ad. Doors open and close nicely and the door windows roll up and down smoothly as well. All sheet metal is original steel and has zero rust. No fiberglass panels anywhere. This car has a full roll cage but it was installed very nicely and could be cut out if someone wanted the more stock look. This car is being listed for a friend. He bought it last year and decided he'd rather have the money for a new project he's working on. Currently I have full access to the car since it is at my house. If you have any questions, please ask and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. My name is Mike and my phone number is (805) 797-6324. Happy to send additional photos if we speak on the phone and I am supplied with an e-mail address. The reserve on this car is very reasonable but in the spirit of a real auction, I prefer not to say what that reserve is. There is NO WARRANTY of any kind! It's a nice car but there are too many people out there who would abuse it and complain after it broke down. It is extremely powerful and fun but not for the feint of heart. Be realistic before you bid. This isn't the kind of car you drive in heavy traffic. Please make sure you have your finances in place before bidding. I need a deposit with 2 days of winning auction and the remainder must be by bank wire within a week. Good communication over the phone allows me to be a bit more flexible. I can help with loading but I can't take it any distance so check into transportation and if needed, they can call me directly for loading details.
