From the height of the disco era…a 1978 Plymouth
Roadrunner. I bought this car in 2010
because I had never seen anything like it. This is a T-Top car with 77, 000 miles.
I could not find the build sheet for the car however the
fender tag is there. The car has the
following options: A57 (Roadrunner), A66 (Super Pack), E44, D32, H51, G11, G77, J52, M25, C56, R32
This is a solid car! It only has a few small surface rust bubbles. Let’s face it, the paint would look better if
it was all original but it certainly catches everyone’s attention. The decals are all original but the white
paint is poor quality and even with wax stays flat. The black looks great on the sides but the hood
has some orange peel. Over all it still
looks good!
The 318 engine has been modified with a performance cam, a 4
bbl Edelbrock intake and carburetor, and headers. The exhaust from the headers to tailpipes was
replaced about 5 years ago and has Cherry Bomb Turbo mufflers. Honestly I don’t like them and wish I went
with something else. It has Mopar
Aluminum valve covers and braided stainless steel hoses and wire coverings in
orange and red.
The A/C has been removed, but it did come with the car when
I bought it and has been stored in my garage.
The interior is all original and in really good shape. The dash is perfect with no cracks and still
shines. The Spectrum seats are still in
good shape. The black is a little faded
and could use a good professional cleaning. The carpet is faded and I had planned to replace it. The headliner is not cracked but it is
buckled at the dome light. I didn’t want
to try and straighten it and risk cracking it. The drivers door panel has some
rot at the bottom so at some time water must have penetrated the door inner
assembly at some point but is not extreme.
The radio has been replaced with a Pioneer CD player with
removable faceplace and a 1000 watt Kenwood amp and a 200 watt amp for the
subwoofer. It’s loud, The speaker cover is fugly though and I never replaced
it.
What’s been done: This car has new tires being installed now. I had new fuel lines, new brake lines, master cylinder, calipers, rotors and drums, pads and shoes, wheel cylinders, new battery, plug wires, cap/rotor, and plugs in the fall of 2013. The car sat for a while before I bought it
and I did not want to risk any of these items being rusted.
All lights and signals and gauges work. It has a digital clock that works. The horn
works “Beep Beep!” The glass is all good
except for some scratches on the drivers side window from rolling it down. The drivers door does not lock.
What it needs: I never found T-Top seals. I just always kept it covered. Good Luck with that. Under the back
seat is some rust where the drivers side seat belt attaches. I would replace the carpet. I
would take it back to the original paint but that’s just me but since it has some small surface rust areas and the white needs to be repainted it would be my choice.
Overall this car is in really good shape. Drive it and have fun this summer with the
T-Tops out. It’s reliable and a lot of
fun to cruise in. When I bought it I
drove it from NH to MD with no issues. I
have kept it clean and covered.
The car is currently at the shop getting the once over
before it sells and new tires. It will also be up for
sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction if it sells. The kid is off to college so this car is
sadly sold in order to pay tuition.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask. If you need pictures of something it may take
a day or two since it is at the shop right now. I also have Owners Manual and sales brochure.
Car is located in Frederick County, MD.
A $1000 deposit is required
from the winning bidder, within 72 hours after the auction ends, to hold
the vehicle
.
Full payment is due within
7
days of auction end via
cash, money order, certified bank check or a money order. I will take a personal check but it will have to clear and be confirmed
by the bank before the title or the car go anywhere. I can't ship or deliver but I will help you
with arrangements and pick up as best I can. I can hold the vehicle for a few
weeks (or longer, if weather or other uncontrollable factors emerge) at no
charge to the winning bidder after the auction if it helps you out. I will be on vacation at the end of the month
so keep that in mind. I understand that things can happen and I am willing to work with people.
