Description:

DefectsExterior: The chrome on the front and back bumpers are pitted and there are a couple pits that have been painted over on the body and are on the brink of rusting. However, that being said, all of the chrome and body is in good condition--Nothing is bent and can easily be restored if someone wants to do that. While the paint is the original color, it has been repainted. It is a solid paint job, but there are a couple places like the ones I mentioned earlier where the painters painted over problem spots like pits and there is a one inch crack on the back that is the same case.Interior defects: New black leather seats because the old ones were weathered-- They look great now. The dash has 5 scratches on it caused by weathering over the years. The gas gauge doesn't function.Engine: The exhaust manifold has a tiny leak and should be worked on down the road. Other than that, everything has been worked on and functions. Trans, Carb, Engine all worked on by Blue Sky Muscle Cars in Seaside, CA. and are in great condition. No air conditioning.Accessories and Things to KnowThe air powered convertible top functions perfectlyGreat for car shows. We've been taking it to several in the South Bay Area (Hollister, Gilroy, Monterey)The cassette/radio feature allows one to play music from their iPod by using a cassette/radio plug inGas mileage is right around 12-14 mpg. With such a big engine, driving on the highway can improve this and it gets its best mileage going right around 50-60 mph.Original 1970 GM seat beltsNew Spark plugsNew starterRecently rebuilt transmission and GM carburetorNew White Striped TiresPunctual oil changesWe replaced the radio stick and put a new one in that is lockable with a key or a coin when it goes down.Gas tank holds around 29 gallonsHistoryWhile 7000 Bonneville Convertibles were made in 1970, only 2000 were still registered by 1979. Today, the car with the convertible is a very rare to find. We estimate based on our internet searches that there are close to a couple hundred left and only a handful for sale.Another neat fact about these 1970 Bonnevilles is they were given the biggest engine of any American muscle car in history. That is-- the 455 V8. The engine packs a powerful punch especially after the restoration that we have had done under the engine by Tom at Blue Sky Muscle Cars Restoration in Seaside, CA.The car originally came into our hands in South Carolina where we bought it from a man in Anderson, SC, which is close to where my son goes to school. He had seen it with a For Sale sign on it in the man's front yard and bought it from him. The 45 year-old muscle car didn't come in perfect condition though. We quickly found that the carb, transmission, starter, alternator, and timing were all out of whack. The man hadn't been driving it for years and the car had just been sitting in his backyard shed for too long without being driven before he decided to sell it. As a result, we completely redid all of these and had them completely rebuilt such that they work perfectly. We had a couple things done when it was originally looked at at Jack's Auto in Central, SC.. Then we promptly had the car brought out here where the rest of the work was done at Blue Sky Muscle Cars Restoration.
