About me; I am a man of integrity
and have listed, possibly to a fault, all the information about this car in an
attempt to ensure no surprises for the buyer.
Being a Clint Eastwood fan, I
will describe the car by one of my favorite movie titles.
THE GOOD;
1976 is the last year Pontiac
produced 455HO V-8 for the T/A.
Of the 46, 704 T/A's produced, only 7, 099 were equipped with the 455HO V-8 (that’s about 15%).
Most T/A's were
built with the 400 V-8 (37, 015) and automatic transmission.
This car is a blast to drive, always turns heads and generates conversations everywhere.
I have taken this car to a couple
car shows and it has been the only '76 T/A there.
As seen in the photos, the paint
is in great shape. The paint is very shiny and low maintenance.
Although the
paint is Carousel Red, it looks more like tangerine orange.
The tan interior is in great
condition, with no tears in the seats or carpet. The dash and headliner are
also in great condition.
The car runs good and
has tons of torque.
The numbers matching engine was
recently professionally rebuilt. I decided to tastefully upgrade the
motor by installing a mild performance cam and forged pistons.
Since the engine rebuild, I have
put less than 1k miles on it. I have driven the car mostly on the highway and
have
not
driven it hard.

In November, 2014, I had the car
professionally appraised for insurance purposes. The appraiser noted the car to
be in 2.0 “FINE” condition and valued at $34, 000.
THE BAD;
As stated above, the paint is in
great condition, however, there are a couple spots on the hood were it appears
there was water in the paint. It's NOT rust and doesn't look like rust. It is only visible upon very close
inspection.
The front and rear bumpers could
use a touch up or repaint. No dents, but because the bumpers are painted, there are a couple spots that need paint work.
Although the car runs good, I
think the carburetor could stand to be rebuilt.
The non-OEM radio only plays
through one rear speaker. I think the previous owner removed a serious
sound system and replaced it with the one currently installed.
The trunk will not stay open
unless it is propped.
THE UGLY;
The reason for selling:
Kind of a long story, but here is
the edited version. I bought the car from Seattle Classic Cars (SCC). The car
was advertised as being in amazing condition and that the buyer would have, “Tears of joy getting on the freeway.”
After it was picked up by the transporter, the owner of SCC, Sean, called me
and said it was running rough. Sean said I needed to fill the
tank premium gas and octane boost then drive it for about 30-45 miles.
Additionally, the car had a paint chip taken out of the rear bumper that was
not in the photos of the car nor stated in the advertisement.
When the car arrived, I did as
Sean instructed. About 30 miles into the drive, the car quit running. Sean
would not stand behind the car and blamed the engine condition on the transport
company.
During the rebuild, I learned the
car actually required race fuel and the reason it quit was because the engine
was running too lean, which ultimately caused the engine to overheat, which
caused the piston heads to warp. Well, 10 months and over $15, 500 later, the
car is as it was advertised to be. I was able to save and repair the
original engine. The problem for me and the reason for my selling is; now I am
in debt for the repairs.
During the rebuild, I made the
necessary changes to bring the car back to running on pump fuel. On a side
note; I now have a pair of 427 Nunzi heads for sale (These are high compression
heads that are in great shape). According to my mechanic, they are very rare
and valuable. I am willing to include them with the car, if the buyer wants
them, or will sell them separately.
Since the rebuild, I haven’t
driven the car much, as I have found the more I drive it, the more I love it, and the more difficult it is to sell.
I am motivated to sell, but my
Starting Price is my lowest number. I know these cars are
going to be the next rage in collector cars. Those of you who know T/A's and/or
the classic car market will recognize this as a great find.

The small print;
The car is sold as is/where is.
The buyer is responsible for transport. I will work with the buyer to
ensure a smooth transaction, within reason. I am a man of my word and have
described this car as best I can.
