Up for sale is my '68 Firebird convertible. As you can see in the photos, it is drop dead gorgeous and turns heads every time I drive it! Here is what you need to know:
-- it is clean, straight, never abused, and has always been garaged since I have owned it. It runs like a freight train. Needs nothing mechanical done to it. Nothing. No excuses for this one!-- it has the following options: Powerglide automatic transmission, wood grain console with floor shifter, power operated top, Rally 2 wheels (tires have 90% tread remaining and look brand new), heavy duty radiator, power steering.-- recent service history includes new shocks, weatherstripping, front end alignment, complete fluids change (tranny, differential, power steering pump, radiator), etc. All the receipts for this work are included.-- the floor pans were found to be rusty in a couple of spots, so I had all four replaced last year (see photos). I also will include the receipts for this work.-- paint, interior and chrome are outstanding (see photos)-- needs nothing -- ready to drive cross country!-- the wife bought me a new, factory correct, wood grain steering wheel for it as a Christmas gift, but I haven't gotten around to installing it. I will include it with the car, along with some other small parts, a factory hood tach, and the factory service manuals.-- and by the way, yes, it DOES have the original cocktail shakers for the trunk area! I'm told that these are as rare as hen's teeth.
Now the bad news:
-- the convertible top, while quite satisfactory and weathertight, is tired and could use replacing if you want the car to look perfect. I included photos of the top inside and out, so you can see what I mean. I only drive it on sunny days and leave the top down all the time, so I don't care about it. You might be more picky.-- some previous owner cut the dash and put in an aftermarket stereo, and did a lousy job of it! So, I am including a new wood grain replacement dash with the sale. Please buy a correct, made-to-fit stereo for it so it will look perfect!
I am 65 years old, have recently retired, and have to economize now that I am living on 55% of what I was used to bringing home. I am sorry to see the car go, but I have to live within my means. I have been completely forthcoming about the car, and will happily answer any other questions you might have.
