These are the details:
This is a true southwest barn find, unmolested, original inside and out, new vinyl top, matching numbers, absolutely no rust, rebuilt engine.
It has all the GTO options offered back in 1972, so it's LeMans Luxury with the soul of a GTO.
Windows roll down, moldings are in place.
Super solid floor boards, trunk, frame and body. NO RUST, No bondo or patches have been found on it. The most expensive phase of a project is the body work, this one needs minimum work.
It starts right away, no leaks, runs strong, handling is smooth and very responsive, straight ride in highway, no vibrations at highway speeds, wheels And tires are in good condition, new brakes.
I was planning to restore it to the Luxury spec but it could be also a perfect candidate for a GTO due to all the options included or a pro touring project.
Some of the options are:
Original 400 6.6l Engine numbers matching (See picture with VIN on the engine block)Original 10 bolt differentialBucket seats and center consoleF41 suspension that includes front and rear sway bar with heavy duty front and rear shocks and coil springsPower disc brakesDual exhaust Power steeringTilt steering wheelBuilt-in rubber foot padChrome surrounds on brake and gas pedalDoor pull strapsCarpeted lower door panelsDefrost window
Some history...
In 1971, the Tempest nameplate was retired and Pontiac promoted the Le Mans nameplate to full-series status to identify all of its intermediate models, which still included the GTO. At the bottom of the line was the Pontiac T-37, previously known as the Tempest, and now expanded to include two- and four-door sedan along with the original hardtop coupe. The GT-37 option was available on both the two-door sedan (pillared coupe) or hardtop coupe.
For 1972, all Pontiac intermediates were now Le Mans models and the low-priced T-37 line was replaced by a base Le Mans pillared coupe. The top-line intermediate was the Luxury Le Mans, available in hardtop sedan and coupe models, featuring plusher interiors than regular Le Mans models. The Le Mans Sport was available as a two-door hardtop or convertible featuring Strato bucket seats and plush interior fittings from the Luxury Le Mans. The GTO was changed from a separate series back to an option package on Le Mans and Le Mans Sport coupes. Replacing the previous GT-37 option package for 1972 was the new Le Mans GT option, available on Le Mans pillared and hardtop coupes with any V8 ranging from the 350 two-barrel to the 455 HO four-barrel, and also included the same appearance and handling items carried over from the GT-37.
The Luxury LeMans Series included a unique front end with a grille that featured twin cavities divided by horizontal blades. They had full-length bodyside moldings, fender skirts, and roof pillar letter badges. Standard equipment included all the items found on the base LeMans plus all-Morrokide bucket seats. Morrokide or cloth and Morrokide upholstery was for the upholstery, there were carpeted lower door panels, custom cushion steering wheel, door assist straps in the front, armrest accents, astray and glove box lamps, and pedal trim plates.

“Daily driver condition, expect to see normal wear for a car in original condition of its age. Things that need attention are passenger seat upholstery, head liner, rear bumper balance, windshield, dashboard, armrest lid, re-connecting the A/C compressor and of course a new paint job but is a great candidate for a full restoration with minimum investment.”
