Description:

BAD ASS Barn Find. I bought this Trans Am a few years ago with the intention of restoring it, but just don't have the time to finish and I need the money to start on another Trans Am I have now. I got it from the original owner who left it in his backyard shed for over twenty years, so it only has 42, 375 original miles on this car. I bought it with 39, 000 on it so I've only put about 3, 000 miles since I've had it, driving mostly on weekends, to keep the miles low on it but I do take it on trips up the West Coast sometimes. It could be a daily driver though as it is strong and reliable. I feel completely comfortable driving anywhere and have never had one problem or break down, ever. Backstory: The person I bought this car from started the restore and did all of the high performance engine work, transmission and drive train. It was his brother's car and he had bought the car new in Hawaii in 1978 after it had been shipped new to a dealership there from the Van Nuys plant in CA., but was killed a couple of years later in an accident, so his family had it shipped back to the mainland here in California and that's where it sat under a partially-covered patio shed for twenty-five years until his Brother took it over and started the restore on it. Color is white with blue cloth interior. Power windows work but sometimes takes a few minutes to warm up. The interior needs to be redone but it's okay for now as the seats are okay with some cloth separation on the back deck from being in the sun. The body needs a little work. There are a few rust spots on the lower side panels but they have been treated and arrested and are ready for inserts and sanding. There is one small rust spot in one small section of the trunk. Needs air conditioning compressor. I think it needs bushings soon as well, but the handling is tight and perfectly responsive and does well at the track. It's a one of a kind Muscle Car.
The engine (Pontiac 400) and drive train are done (The hard part) and as you can see in the pictures, it's a dream under the hood. It's automatic, with posi, but a race shifter has been installed and so it shifts like a three speed, (L=1st, S=2nd and D=3rd) and it is a screamer! The torque tosses you back in the seat. It's been professionally built and makes people drop their jaws every time I open the hood to let them see the masterpiece underneath. The speedometer needs calibration but other gauges work. It has an aftermarket cassette stereo. Perfect for someone who wants to finish it and feel the speed. This car does not pass smog in California so if you live in California and have the ability to arrange for it passing, it can be done. If you can register it outside of CA., then you're okay as it has a clean title in hand. I do have the original manifold and plumbing if you want to restore it back to smog legal though. Come and test drive this baby and you'll want to take it home.
If you're local, come and test drive this baby and you'll love it. ((If you purchase it for the full Asking price, I'll toss in an afternoon of stunt driving and drifting lessons as this car belongs to a Hollywood Stunt Driver. I'll teach you how to drive it like The Bandit.))
Seller takes responsibility for smog certification. Local pick up in Pasadena, CA. is okay. Buyer responsible for shipping/transport if out of the Los Angeles, CA. area. Thanks for checking her out and I hope this Rare Bird finds a good home. Like to sell FAST.
