This is a mean machine, 1976 Black and Gold Trans Am. A few
modifications but dead on stock look. What was modified? Crane Camshaft 287, Ram
Air III intake/exhaust, true dual exhaust, 4 speed borg warner converted to
Richmond 5 speed matching rear. Before you would be rev’ing at 3500rpm’s at
65mph, now 2500rpm’s at 65mph. You want it to rev at 3500rpm’s at 65mph then
don’t shift into 5th gear. Also a long shifter. Performance ignition
system. I haven’t dyno’d it but it is well above the lame 200hp it came stock
with. 75000 miles on the car, no not just the engine, the entire car. How many
of these still exist and how many have this few in miles. I lived overseas in
Japan for many many years and now live in the Scottsdale, AZ area home to
Barrett Jackson so the car only sees car shows.
Things that could be addressed, none the involve the
mechanics of the car. The carpet. Should be stretched. Over the years like home
carpet it should be stretched. No center consol. It had one which was showing
it’s age so I took it out. Much more roomy without. You can find one on Ebay
and bring that look back. The back bumper, structurally perfect but the
material does lend itself to peeling and it have a few areas where you can see
it spidering. Paint is awesome, of course a car some 40 years old needs to be
repainted and it was repainted 15 years ago. Since then always garage kept and
brought to car shows, ZERO need to repaint unless you want to deal with the
spidering on the rear bumper. Could benefit from a conversion to rear disk
brakes. NO AC with this car, never had it. The tack had failed so I replaced
it. Also added an oil pressure light as well and oil pressure better gauge than
came stock. Updated radio, I do have the original, and in glove box CD changer.
I do have the spoilers but since they are very low to the ground and can chip I
took them off. I think it looks better without but they come with it. Also I have the trim rings that I
never put on because they are constantly stolen, I have replaced 2 and didn’t
feel like replacing more of them. They come with the car. The car has no rust
issues, has surface rust at most, but has been in Arizona now for 12 years so I
state NO RUST ISSUES AT ALL. And it is a 455 block, full of HUGE power so be
careful to the new owner.

“Nothing mechanical, ONLY a few cosmetic things, back bumper, structurally perfect, some spiderwebs in paint which shows some chipping at license plate. Carpet could use stretching, Engine compartment could use some detailing.” |
