1970 (1/2) matching numbers Ram Air III Trans Am. One of less than 1000 automatics produced with AC, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Power Brakes, Power Windows and 8 Track Player.
This car wasn't suppose to happen: After GM and Pontiac produced the first TA in 69 they had no immediate plans to produce more but the demand was so great that they decided to do it again in 70. By the time they got their act together, the first one didn't roll off the assembly line till June of 1970 (hence the commonly referred 70 1/2) and here is one of them!
A total of only 1339 automatics were produced and when you factor in the options and color combo this one has the numbers drop to less than 800.
My intentions were to restore it but I'm unable to. The good thing about this car is that everything is there and ready to continue restoration while enjoying it or make it a $50k+ matching numbers show car. Paint is a 20 footer. It's not perfect. Was repainted before I bought it and appears that quarters were replaced. Band Aid stickers and other badging is in good shape. I would say the same for the interior. Seats, headliner, carpet and dash are in excellent condition. Have been replaced with correct seem and colors. Door panels are fair. Again, like the exterior, not perfect.
Clock doesn't work and temp gauge works occasionally. The stereo and 8 track player are not hooked up. There's a couple ground issues with blinkers. Under the hood is complete and very original. AC components are all there but needs to be serviced. Brakes bleed down after time and need service. I'm sure there's things I'm forgetting so ask questions and I'll try my best to answer them.
