Price: US $1,900.00
If you are looking for a Porsche 928 project this is it. You will find cheaper cars and you will find cars in better shape but you wont find one with better potential in this price range. This is a very rare 1980 928s with factory 5 speed and sunroof delete. There was a few hundred of these imported to the united states with those options throughout the entire models lifespan. Being a 1980, this is one of only 2 years in which the s model was imported with the 4.7 litre Euro motor at 296 hp.
The car runs strong, and shows 37218 miles on the odometer. I purchased this car from a neighbor who had stored it since 2009, at the time I bought it, it had 37199 miles on it. The odometer quit working at 37218 and I drove it maybe 60 miles after that, so the actual mileage is a more like 37278 ish.
Unfortunately the person that my neighbor bought it from removed the seats and replaced them with seats from an s4 (of unknown year) the wheels are also from an s4 and the spoiler is obviously not stock and I assume it is also from the same s4 as the wheels and seats. The interior in my opinion needs to be completely replaced. Fortunately its not to hard to find parts cars at the moment but I would imagine that depends where you live and what's available and how determined you are to make the car 100% stock.
I will try to be as detailed as I can in my description, outlining the good and the bad. If there is something you want to know that I have missed please feel free to ask questions.
Lets start with the good.
This car runs strong lots of power, body is straight, would not take much to make this a driver, Rare 5 speed, rare sunroof delete, low miles, collectability, desirable factory color, all glass is good, I have some paperwork but not all.
The bad.
The car has been repainted and the color match is not quite right, does not have factory seats and wheels as stated above. There is rust around the rear windows, its fixable but it needs to be fixed soon. The clutch master cylinder went out (about $100 on ebay) That's the only thing keeping this from being a driver. The odometer quit working along with the spedo and a few other gauges. The front wheels and tires are larger than factory so they rub on the fenders in tight turns and bumps. The interior needs work. This car needs full maintenance, it has not been a driver and has not been maintained since 2009.
With all that said, the wheels on this car are almost worth my starting price. This is an auction with no reserve. Buyer is responsible for transporting the car and payment is due in full at end of auction. If in doubt, please contact me before bidding.
I will post more pictures on Monday, 7/27
Thank you for looking!
