This clean-title 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo (Type 951) is in great condition for its model year, and is becoming increasingly hard to find. It has spent the last 19 years of its life in sunny Honolulu, Hawaii, and has been very well-loved by its owner. It is not a trailer-queen, it is a very strong-running car that has been driven regularly, well-maintained, and thoughtfully upgraded as such.
Among the extensive list of upgrades:
- The exterior was refinished several years ago in single-stage Viper Red.
- Genuine Recaro seats in red suede/mesh fabric
- 18 996/911 Turbo wheels with new tires
- Custom-built K27 Turbo (#6 hot-side housing/#8 turbine wheel/lightweight rotor group for quick spool-up)
- Koni adjustable shocks
- Cup Racing-type 30mm hollow front sway bar / 22mm adjustable rear sway bar
- Progressive front springs
- Tri-Flow stainless exhaust
- Adjustable boost control
- Lindsey Racing wastegate
- Amsoil 20W50 synthetic used exclusively
- Garage-kept and regularly detailed
- Too many upgrades and features to fully list
As is common with cars of this vintage, there are a few non-major-mechanical issues: 1) no ABS (antilock brakes were standard in 1987-up 951s), 2) the air conditioning does not blow cold, 3) there is a slow electrical drain somewhere (only if the car is not driven for several days), 4) a small dent in the left rear corner between the taillight and bumper, 5) the power door lock is inoperable on the passenger side, 6) the sunroof is inoperable, and 7) the car may benefit from a front wheel alignment.
Complete maintenance records available, over $10K in recent parts/labor. New clutch/timing belt/rebuilt cylinder head done less than 15K miles ago. Engine runs smoothly, pulls hard when on boost. Despite its vintage, the car still exhibits that solid, carved-from-an-ingot feel that true German cars possess, as it goes down the road. Additional photos available as well.
