This is a Beck 1955 Replica of the famous 550 Porsche Spyder called a Chamonix 550. This is not a kit car but rather a turn key auto built by the nice folks at Special Edition in Bremen Indiana using a Subaru 2.5L liquid cooled engine rather than the typical VW powerplant. This company has been building the Beck replica Spyder and Speedster for 32 years as I understand it and as can be seen by the fit and finish on this model, really know their stuff. Their website is a wealth of information regarding these cars and also the source for parts and accessories. This particular car was built in 2012 for a customer with the unusual champagne(yellow) color and as a turn key car came as you see it with standard leather interior, 4WDB, top, curtains, tonneau, spare tire and jack kit. The following options were also installed during assembly; racing three-point belts, rear fender spears, helmet fairing, GT racing mirror, upgrade park/turn signals, oil cooler grill, stainless exhaust, Fuchs wheels(5) and the previously mentioned paint. The engine used is a very low mileage 2007 Subaru 2.5 throttle by wire model which produces 190 HP according to the website. Transmissions are supplied by Rancho ion CA and are new not a junk yard take-off. This is nice little car, runs like a watch and goes like a scared cat. Fit and finish is as good as any and better than most, simply a well built machine. Please note: Some states don't appreciate these replicas and can make registration difficult. With that said I can state that this car has been titled in IND, RI, NH and NY. This car has a clear transferable NY registration/title in my name and is titled as a 1955 Chamonix along with build sheets from Special Edition, a copy of the title of the 2007 Imprezza bought by Special Edition as a source of engine and wiring components and a letter from Subaru of America denoting the engine number in this particular donor car. The engine number is readily visible on the engine if inspection is necessary. That is what I have and all that should be necessary. Please do your due diligence in your state before bidding. A few small stone chips on the underside from normal road use. As always, no test pilots.
