THIS VEHICLE BEGAN IT’S LIFE AS A 1986 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM. IT WAS THEN RE-BODIED AS A CLONE OF A 1986 FERRARI 308 GTB. DO NOT CONFUSE THIS CAR WTH THE SMALLER FIERO FIBERGLASS KITS. THE BODY PANELS WHICH WERE ADDED TO THIS CAR ARE INSTALLED OVER THE ORIGINAL TRANS AM TOP, REAR FENDERS, & TAIL LIGHT SECTION. THE TRUNK LID W/ FAKE ENGINE LOUVERS & WING WAS ADDED. THE DOORS WERE CAPPED, AND A NEW FRONT CLIP & BONNET WERE INSTALLED. THE KITS WERE SO CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL BODY SPECS THAT FERRARI’S LAWYERS FILED A LAW SUIT WHICH CAUSED THE COMPANY TO STOP PRODUCTION OF THE BODY KITS.
MUCH BLOOD SWEAT & TEARS WENT INTO THE FIT & FINISH OF THIS VEHICLE. THIS CAR IS NOT A SHOW CAR ALTHOUGH IT SHOWS VERY WELL & HAS WON 1ST PLACE IN CLASS ALMOST EVERY SHOW IT HAS BEEN AT. IT WAS BUILT TO BE A DRIVER AND THAT IS WHAT I USE IT FOR. I WOULD NOT BE AFRAID TO TAKE OFF FOR CALIFORNIA OR FLORIDA IN THIS CAR. IT HAS BEEN THAT DEPENDABLE.
THE INTERIOR WAS CREATED BY: MYERS CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY, AS WERE THE DOOR PANELS WHICH WE
RE MADE BY COMBINING PONTIAC GEN 3 TOPS & GEN 4 MOULDED BOTTOMS. THE REPLICA ENGINE COVER HAS THE FERRARI EMBLEM ON IT'S TOP AND THE WORD FERRARI ON THE FRONT ABOVE THE EXTENDED CONSOLE. THE REPLICA ENGINE COVER HIDES THE BOX WHICH HOUSES THE 2 -12 KICKER WOOFERS INSIDE & 2 - 6X9 CO-AXIAL SPEAKERS. THE SEATS & DOOR PANELS SPORT THE FERRARI HORSE LOGO, WHILE THE DASH HAS THE WOOD KIT W/GLOVE BOX ADDED. THE CONSOLE HAS BEEN EXTENDED AND WOOD HAS BEEN ADDED TO IT & THE A/C AND STEREO UPPER CONSOLE.
ENGINE IS A FRESH 305 CHEVY LONG BLOCK, WITH EDELBROCK PERFORMER INTAKE & 4 BRL EDELBROCK CARB, LONG TUBE HEADERS, DUAL EXHAUST WITH DUAL TIPS, PLUS AN MSD DISTRIBUTER AND WIRES.
YOU WILL SEE IN THE PICTURES THAT THERE IS MUCH CHROME AND DRESS UP COVERS IN THE ENGINE BAY. THE ENGINE COOLING IS HANDLED BY AN ALLUMINUM RADIATOR AND A DUAL FAN DERAILE SYSTEM.
THE TRANSMISSION IS A STOCK 700 R4 - 4SPEED W/OVERDRIVE SPORTING A NEW B&M SHIFTER IN THE CONSOLE.
TOO MANY NEW ITEMS TO LIST EVERYTHING BUT SOME OF THE ITEMS ARE: BRAKES, EXHAUST, SHOCKS / STRUTS, STARTER, 100 AMP ALTERNATOR, HIGH VELOCITY WATER PUMP, POWER STEERING PUMP, A/C COMPRESSOR, BATTERY, LIGHT MOTORS & RELAYS, TIRES & RIMS, DOOR SEALS, T - TOP SEALS, AND REBUILT FRONT END.
I KNOW THAT I MISSED A BUNCH BUT AS I SAID, TOO MUCH TO LIST EVERYTHING.
