This is a blast from the past! I purchased it 24 years ago from the second owner. Kellison built custom drag race cars and sold fiberglass bodies to fit easily on 1954-1963 Corvette frames. This one is on a 1960 Corvette frame. He replaced all the suspension and brake parts and rebuilt the engine and installed the Muncie aluminum 4-speed transmission and clutch assembly. He also installed the floor and attached the body to the frame. Previously the body was hinged in the front and there was no floor and it was only drag raced like that. He never drove or raced the car and neither have I. It has been started and hauled from garage to garage only. It runs great the motor isn't even broken in yet. The only changes I made was the tail light assembly taken from a '71 riviera installed in place of the VW bug tail lights installed previously. I was going to paint the car Ferrari red. It looks like Testa Rossas from the late 50's. I had removed the hood trunk and doors and was ready to go on the paint. That was 20 years ago and I never got to it. Good thing because the old worn paint look is in now! I have gauges from a 50's Alfa with Italian, and a Fiat steering column that would accept a Ferrari steering wheel. The interior was to be finished after the paint so those parts are not installed but come with the car. I would be able to do this work for the buyer if so desired. I left the period correct low back racing seat in it and the interior bare as it would be for racing. There are links below for more information on Kellison and cars people built. I may consider taking partial trade (I need a van!) but I would have to end the auction to make a deal like that. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time as I have other ads and possible buyers. Thanks and good luck bidding!

“This car is set up for drag racing, it could be driven on the street but it has very low clearance! The motor is lowered in the frame to fit in the Kellison body and reduce drag for going faster! I live in Chicago so it would not go over speed bumps and deep pot holes without an air suspension to raise the car. The interior is bare, but I do have leather buckets etc. that come with the car. The lights are working except the front running lights are not installed. I had removed the doors and hood and trunk lid to paint the car and decided not after seeing a similar car in Hot Rod magazine with a similar worn paint job. The tires are old and depending on what it will be used for new tires would be needed or more than one set of tires for race and street. It has a standard gas tank suitable for street but a fuel cell would be needed for racing these days.” |
