Up for sale is my 2003 Saab 9-3 Linear. I have owned the car for around a year, and she has been a good friend to me in that time. She has not let me down, and still drives really well for a car of her vintage, and miles. As you would expect, she is not perfect, so please do not expect to be bidding on a vehicle that is in showroom condition. She still has plenty of power, and gives a consistent 27-28mpg on my daily commute which consists of both stop/start driving, and highway. We have had 35mpg on the highway on a trip to Canada last year. The transmission still shifts nice, with no grating or noises. I did have to replace the shift emblem though, which shows reverse in a different place, but that does not affect the way it operates. I wasn't able to find the correct one, after a LOT of searching. The clutch is still great, with no judders, or slippage. I had to put 4 tires on last year to pass inspection, and they are all still really good. There is a power sunroof that is awesome in this weather, and opens or closes at the touch of a button. If you don't like the sound of that, the AC blows as cold as you'd ever want it to. All of the electrics work as they should, although I should mention that the locks can misbehave every now and then. The interior is not perfect, but I have seen a lot worse on younger cars with less miles.
Since I have had the car, I have done a full service using genuine parts, and Mobil 1 0-w40. I also repaired a broken fuel gauge, as well as replaced 2 door locks on the drivers side. I suspect the locking fault is being caused by a slightly delusional rear passenger side lock, but haven't been able to confirm it, as it is pretty intermittent. I also went to the trouble of installing an auxiliary socket for the stereo, and replaced the very tired looking switch panel on the dash. Most of these parts were sourced used via eBay, apart from the fuel sender, which was new. Since then, I have done another oil change, again with Mobil 1, and that's where the story ends for me.
I bought the car knowing that at some point it would turn into a project. Since then, I have changed jobs, and the new job means that I haven't got the time to be taking on any more work. I would like to see the car go to a good home, where someone will keep her on the road. As it stands, she needs a lower ball joint on the drivers side, and a tie rod on the passenger side to correct a suspension knock. She also needs a new water pump to correct a coolant leak. It's not a bad leak - I have to top up around once every 3 weeks - but it does need to be taken care of. If I had the time, or the space, I wouldn't think twice about keeping her. Both me and my wife still love driving her, and she will be missed!
