You are bidding on a 1993 Saab 900S 3-door, the final year of the iconic, Pre-GM Saab 900. We purchased this car in 2013 from a dealer in North Jersey and have racked up less than 1500 miles, mostly weekend cruising and some errands, but most recently as my wife's daily driver. Non-turbo 16v 4-cylinder engine runs well and delivers decent power through 3-speed automatic gearbox. Car handles beautifully and is a blast to toss around the curves, with very satisfying feedback from the road. Good brakes and nearly-new BF Goodrich tires (they were on the car when we got it, but have nearly all of their tread depth remaining) on steel wheels with original covers.
Good paint and no rust, though it is a 22-year-old car and has some minor dents and scratches. Interior also displays normal wear, but there are no holes in any of the seat covers, and the headlining is in excellent condition. All switches are functional but power side mirrors sometimes get stuck and need to be adjusted by hand.
Heater, air conditioner, radio (AM/FM/cassette, will include a cassette adapter for use with external audio devices) all fully functional. I converted the factory power-telescoping radio antenna with a fixed mast antenna several months ago after the retractable antenna's motor burned out. We have also replaced headlight wipers, windshield wipers, battery, and spark plugs/wires. Replaced peeling (common Saab problem) Saab badge on hood with new, OEM badge; badge on rear hatch has flaked and could be replaced or repaired with a decal. Most recently, I installed a lace-up leather cover on the steering wheel for improved look and feel for the interior.
Buyer will receive original Saab owner's manual, the Bentley shop manual, plus service records since we bought the car in September 2013.
This is a great weekend car or short-range daily driver today (the positively huge cargo capacity, especially with the rear seat folded, makes it great for the occasional trip to Ikea or Home Depot, too!), and in the right hands it could be a beautifully restored example of a classic European driver's car tomorrow. We are selling because car seats are in our future and while we love our Saab, it lacks LATCH compatibility...hopefully you can provide this low-mile 900 with a good home for the rest of the miles it was built to last!
