Up for auction is my beloved Saab 9000 Aero. I've had this car for over four years and put close to 40k on the clock. I have way too many cars and don't drive her much anymore. I don't think I put more then 200 miles a month on this beast in the last year. There is really nothing wrong, besides little things that I haven't gotten around to fixing. For a 19 year old beast, it is pretty reliable. Like in life, this car has it pros and cons:
Pros:
(1) Five speed manual transmission. Shifts and drive nice. No slipping, etc Makes the car feel alive, when you wind her up. Can't say that about the automatic. The automatic is actually has less horsepower.
(2) No annoying TCS nonsense. Limp-home mode
(3) Full 3inch JT exhaust from the head to the tail. Nice sound, not ricey at low. I installed a race cat to the system also
(4) Super rare 17in saab rims from England!!! Probably the only one you will ever see. Matching cooper tires have around 10k on them.
(5) Stainless steel brake lines all around
(6) Cross-drill rotors all around
(7) Bilstein rear shocks. Didn't get around to doing the front struts. They are ok for now.
(8) Very low miles at 116k
Cons:
(1) She has some rust at the bottom of the rear quarter panels. You can not see it behind the rear bumper. It is not structural. I was planning to have it taken care of, but never go around to it
(2) Dash lights: Check engine light is on because I didn't put on the 02 sensor next to the cat. After I install the exhaust and the cat, I didn't put one on. There is a plug there current that need to be replace with a sensor. The ABS light comes on from time to time. Didn't really affect the braking. The SRS light has been on since I had the car. The windshield washer fluid light comes on. There is a leak near the bottle. The turbo gauge does not work. It does not move. The turbo unit work. It spools up and there is no smoke or delay.
(3) The rear shock towers are solid for now. I am starting to see a little surface rust around the rubber bushings.
(4) AC unit does not work. It need a AC condenser. I have a brand new one and will include it with the sale. I replaced all the hose and the receiver dyer. It was very cold, before a rock put a hold in the condenser
(5) Some cracks on the dash
(6) I am missing the door key. I only have the one for the ignition. That was the way I bought it. The key for the ignition lock does not work on the any of the doors or trunk. It never bothered me, as I live in a relatively safe area.
These are the major things I can think of. You will notice that the front seats are tan. I replaced the entire interior, including the carpets and door panels All Scarab Green Aeros came with a tan interior. I installed black. I didn't put the front seats in. I have the black from aero seats in the garage. It is in good shape. The stitching on the seat bottoms need to be re-stitch. The leather is not worn or cracked up. I will swapped out the front seat before the sale. I may not have time to get the bottoms re-stitch. I can send pixs of the seats if you like.
This was the car I was planning to never sell. I did not spare any expense. These 9000 aero are becoming hard to find. There were only 3500 brought to the US from 1993 to 1997. I am not asking a lot. The reserve is reasonable. If you are lucking to find one, the seller wants stupid money or the car has stupid miles and on it last leg. You would find a boring automatic and not the robust feeling manual transmission
