1969 Saab Other deluxe

Saab Other deluxe (1969)
for sale

Price: US $3,800.00

Description:

I am selling my beloved vintage 1969 Saab 96 V4 Deluxe. I am moving to New Orleans and having a car with no AC down there and moving it that far is not practical. I saved this car from a filthy garage and also bought a parts car (parts car not included). I had Dennis Sweeney Saab get it back on the road in the spring of 2014 I believe. Since then, I've had regular maintenance and inspections. I've installed a kit that allows the transmission to be easily adjusted to the body (it comes lose over time). A lot of cosmetic work such as badges, paint on the wheels and grill, etc. I've also had the slave cylinder of the clutch replaced.
This is a reliable daily driver with no known mechanical issues. It has wear and tear as it is not a trailer queen, but an actual driver. The only thing that doesn't work is the horn and I believe that is the switch on the column that is faulty.
I have attached several pictures, some of which are from the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, which is a great event here in Pittsburgh. People love this car and think it's some high priced auto when they see it.
On the negative side, it has some rust on the floor pans in the cockpit, but it doesn't have rust issues that make it structurally weak. I have never taken it out in the winter and it has resided in my garage while winterized every year. Also, it came from Alabama originally (as far as I know).
It barks the tires in second gear still, even though it's unrestored. I'll try to post some more interior pics soon.

All of the parts are readily available via a supplier in Oregon or Ebay or Saab specialty shops.
If you have questions, please let me know. I don't want to sell her, but it's time. It's been fun. Buyer responsible for pickup/shipping, though I will facilitate shipping after full payment if desired.
All wheels are painted to match the body and the hub caps are all matching and in good condition.
Also, the tires are all new.
Also, I intend on installing the radio and two speakers in the back. Just had some of the interior done with some vinyl piping/covers along the weather stripping inside of the doors.
The freewheel has been disconnected and I do have a PA title free and clear. In PA it requires a safety inspection only as it is pre 1975. You could always go for the antique plate or classic if you'd like. I just got it on the road and enjoyed it. I've been driving it practically every day over the past month.

Also, the key works on both doors and the trunk and glove compartment. I have the owners manual and a repair manual (rare) that I will include. I have some odds and ends in parts, like a CV boot, but nothing too fancy. I also have a carb rebuild kit that was expensive. I'll include that. Doubt I'll have time to screw with the carb.

Another couple of notes:
This car was from Alabama. It was owned by a military officer down there and his brother used it without his permission and bumped into the back of a trash truck, which is why I had to install a new grill. It wasn't a bad wreck, just a fender bender, but that's what apparently took it out of commission at one point. I have contact info for a couple of past owners after finding clues in the car. It was owned by an architect at one point too, but I couldn't locate him.
So, if you're worried about rust, this wasn't a snow slosher in Pittsburgh. It spent most of it's Steel City years in a garage in a town called Millvale with an older gentlemen that smoked cigars alongside a kerosene heater and stared at it lovingly.
condition notes:
The windshield wipers work, but currently the lever on the column is loose, so I used a hair band from a Latin lady friend to hold it upright. I would suggest buying a new lever so you can have a functioning horn.
The wiper fluid pump is is retrofitted with a new pump. There's a little button that was rigged onto the dash to activate it. It sprays when the pump works.
I kept this car in a garage during winters, raised off the ground on jack stands. I also have the original jack and lug wrench. one of the hinges under the hood is adhered using epoxy, but should eventually be welded on (preferably to go along with a hood repaint). There's no danger of it flopping open as it locks down in the front and along both sides towards the driver (it also weighs about 20 pounds total). It currently is adhered, but could be welded over the future.
This car runs a little hot if you are on a high way at 65 or over, particularly on hills. It stays plenty cool driving 55 or less and is great on windy roads and hills (even steep ones).
I can't stress enough that this car is solid and there are no known major issues. It's been running for me consistently since I got it on the road a few years ago. It is not perfect and it will need maintained, but your not buying a junker that can't drive. You should expect to maintain it and fix things as needed.
Any questions or photos will be provided via request. They aren't allowing me to swap pics from what I originally uploaded. Also, sometimes the messages sent via Ebay bounce back, just keep on me or call me at four one two 999 four seven eight three. I also encourage a visit in person, though we are getting close to the auction end.
I continue to drive this car every day with no issues. I'll point out the things that should or could be done once you drive/trailer it off:
-Oil Change
-PA safety inspection is due end of July for PA drivers
-The linkage is not activating the reverse lamps, the switch is new and lights work, but there needs to be an adjustment.
-The linkage sometimes is a bit picky about finding reverse. I remedy this by putting into first, then back to neutral to pull the lever out and down for reverse. I believe this is a linkage adjustment.
(the two linkage issues didn't happen until I had the transmission kit installed and the tranny and engine were removed and put back. The gears shift smoothly and have never popped out of position once engaged ever. There is also no grinding at all in the forward gears, but reverse sometimes makes a split second crunch/grind into place.)
-the hood underside hinge is adhered and should be eventually welded to the hood. There is no risk of it flying open as it locks down on three sides regardless of the hinge.
It is ready to start right up and drive off. I have my repair records with a clean title, three keys, one interior original storage bin for the driver's side and original radio (which I haven't confirmed if it works yet, but it really should).
I'm relisting this. I want $3, 800 for this car.
Cheers,
Kris
