This sale is for my 2009 Scion tC. I bought this car approximately 2 years ago with around 42k miles. The car currently has 90, 100 on the odometer. I am the second, non-smoking owner. This car has been a lot of fun but it is time for me to move on to something else.
The car is completely stock with 161 HP from the 2.4l VVT-i engine.
5-speed Manual transmission.
Unique Panoramic dual sunroof / moonroof design.
Room for 5, Seats 4 comfortably.
Built-in iPod connector.
29 observed MPG (I usually drive around 65 mph in my local areas).
I have maintained this car myself and have completed the following:
- Oil changes every 4k - 5k miles.
- E3 sparkplugs at 50k miles.
- New General Altimax HP 215/45R17 tires installed at 57k miles w/ Tire Rack Roadside Assistance for the life of the tires.
- Manual transmission fluid changed at 75k miles.
- Recently recharged A/C – Blows really cold.
- Windshield replaced June 2015 – Lifetime Warranty
- March 1016 - Replaced exterior hatch release body panel (with a reinforced unit) after the factory part cracked after a hard freeze last winter.
Up to date with all recalls and warranties.
- “Sticky” back door garnish (exterior hatch release) replaced.
- Broken driver’s seat stop replaced.
- Recently completed “high oil usage” evaluation. The car was noted to be using zero oil for the test.
The only thing that is currently left undone is the sunroof gets stuck and will auto-retract like something is keeping it from closing (similar to a garage door opener safety). This happens about 1 out of 20 times when closing the sunroof. I am able to get the sunroof fully closed (when this actually happens) by “bumping” the close button until the sunroof is fully seated. I had the dealership grease the tracks, but they couldn’t actually duplicate the problem.
The interior is a 9.0 / 10 with no stains on the seats but some very small tears and light staining in the carpet in the cargo area from carrying large items.
The exterior is an 8.0 / 10 with one small door ding over the left rear wheel that made a small crease (see pics), another small ding above the drivers door (see pics), numerous small chips in the paint from normal driving & parking. There are some small scrapes on the rear bumper cover from putting things into the back of the car. The headlights could probably use a polish, as could the paint. The wheels have some “curb rash”
Some of the door seals (between the doors and the side glass) have spit but are still in place. I have some pictures of both sides.
I had a recent 5 mph rub against a truck parked in my driveway. There are some small scratches behind the right rear wheel from this that can be easily filled in or buffed out. I have some pictures of the damage.
One (or multiple) the TPMS monitors have failed. I haven’t taken the time to figure out which one is bad because the tire has to be removed from the wheel to replace the monitor. Most auto parts stores will test the monitors for free. New ones are available on eBay for about $15.00 each.
The engine has never given me any trouble or ever any doubt in the reliability of this Toyota product. This is my third Toyota in a row!

There is no warranty implied or expressed; AS IS WHERE IS. The vehicle is located about 70 miles South of Norfolk, Va., if you want to inspect it (recommended), or have the vehicle inspected (at your expense).
Norfolk Va. is home to one of the largest Multi-Modal Ports on the East Coast so finding a shipper (at your expense and time) should not be an issue. I am not opposed to meeting the winning bidder the airport with the title after the vehicle has been fully paid for.
I feel that I have the price set to sell the car at a fair market price for the vehicle. Please bid to buy.
