This King Cobra is a replica of the 1966 AC Shelby Cobra. It was built by Melson Motorsports of Bailey Colarado in 1999 and upgraded in 2009. It is a B&B manufacturing kit with a jig welded chassis. It has QA1 coil overs all around which are adjustable for desired ride handling. It has Wilwood brakes 6 piston front four piston rear. It is powered by Ford Racing's crate motor 521C which is a 460 stroker engine with roller lifters, roller cam and Super Cobra Jet heads. The ratings on this engine is 580 horsepower with 600 ft. lbs. of torque. The intake was changed to the Victor Jr. intake for hood clearance. The dyno results is 481.37 max power to the rear wheels with max torque of 508.82. It has a bell housing with a custom Tremec TKO 600 transmission modified by Keisler Engineering of Rockford TN. Keisler installed a hydraulic T/O bearing and speed shift modification and I had Kevlar synchronizer rings installed for high RPM shifts. The rear end gears are 3.73 which places the RPM's in the 3, 000 to 7, 000 cam band while at cruising speeds. A simple down shift to 4th gear or 3rd gear and it is game on for the contender! This car is no trailer queen. It was built to run hard strong to engage the competition on any road course an emerge ahead of them all. I love to drive long open roads, so I equipped this snake with a 22 gallon aluminum fuel tank and a killer stereo system. It has a detachable Alpine stereo deck CD player IPod cable and a hundred watt Alpine amplifier mounted in the rear wall directly behind the water proof Memphis sub woofer and MS Quartz speakers. There are a set of front mounted MS Quartz speakers as well for continuity of sound as you drive. I installed Ford Racing gauges which are just stunning at night with the correct amount of light and they are red white and blue. The headlights are an upgrade from the original to project a greater amount of light and range. They have individual marker lamps inside the headlight which glow orange and makes the car more visible when signaling or only using the parking lights. The wheels are 18 TSW wheels with BF Goodrich Radials which have massive grip and are the best tires that I have tried on the Cobra. The trunk is lined with aluminum panels which are removable.
