Up for sale is a gorgeous example of one of the best FACTORY BUILT Cobra replicas you can buy. This is NOT a kit car. Backdraft builds all of their Cobras in a factory setting with consistency and quality controls. Their customer service is second to none, and parts/upgrades are easily found on their website backdraftparts . com. This particular car is equipped with a Ford Racing 302 motor producing right around 400hp. The motor is mated to a Tremec T-5 manual transmission putting power to a 3:55 rear end. It weighs approximately 2, 000lbs so naturally, it goes like hell. I had the car gone through completely in August and replaced the plugs, wires, tires, and all fluids. It runs perfect and needs nothing.
All Backdraft Cobras are built on a box frame chassis and use suspension and brakes from BMW 3 series cars, resulting in fantastic handling. THIS car was built with upgraded BMW M3 componentry. You rarely see this option. The calipers and cross-drilled discs, as well as the suspension are all M class parts. Handles and stops like a slot car. Other notable upgrades on this car are the passenger side rollbar, factory tonneau cover, and cockpit heater.
This car is titled in Virginia as a Special Construction vehicle. This designation exempts you from inspections and emissions testing which can be a major roadblock for replicas and hot rod type cars.
