Up for sale is a no-expense-spared example of a Factory Five Type 65 Coupe. This car was finished in January of this year and has only been driven 840 miles since. The bulk of the miles were put on going back and forth to local car shows where it drew crowds without fail. Never raced or tracked. This car needs nothing. It is fully sorted out and broken in.
The exterior is flawless and has been painted in the traditional Guardsman Blue with painted Wimbledon White stripes and gumballs. The numbers and sponsorship logos are vinyl decals and can be removed to suit your taste. Quite possibly the finest paint job I have ever seen on a fiberglass bodied car. The body and paint were done by Jeff Miller of Miller Customs in Temecula, Ca. The builder of the car lives in NJ. He shipped the body cross country to have the work performed. Please Google Jeff Miller. His attention to detail is second to none. The build was finished by Mark Dougherty aka The Traveling Builder. Mark worked for Factory Five before starting his own service finishing builds on FFR cars. Some upgrades worth mentioning are Lucas lights on the doors which illuminate the gumball numbers when the headlamps are switched on. Looks amazing at night. The rear hatch was updgraded to glass. Most of these cars have a polycarbonate hatch that scratches easily and delaminates. A 12v blower system was installed to move air through the footwells, keeping the car remarkably cool even in hot weather. Kirkey Racing seats were chosen over the typical seats supplied by Factory Five. These seats alone were over $2, 000. Pete Brock mirrors. Splined, removable Moto Lita style steering wheel. Halibrand style wheels. And, Nitto Extreme 555 ZR rated tires. I also have the slider windows for the doors still new in the box. I like the car as it is, but you have the option. With the car comes a 3 ring binder with every receipt and part number for every piece of the car.
Under the bonnet is a 427 cubic inch crate motor built by The Engine Factory in New Jersey. It produces 538 horsepower and in excess of 550 lb/ft of torque. The car comes with a video of the motor being dyno tested and reviewed after the build. The carburetor was upgraded to a Demon 750 which I will assume made for some additional horses. It runs BEAUTIFULLY. The motor is mated to a Tremec TKO600 5 speed transmission capable of handling over 600 lb/ft of torque. The rear end is a Moser 3.31 with a final drive of .64. Weighing in at just over 2, 200 lbs, this car goes like you won't believe. The suspension is independent double wish bone with Koni coil over shocks up front and a 5 link rear.
There is alot of information to take in when considering one of these cars. If I can help or answer any questions, please don't hesitate to call me. I will do my best to respond accurately and quickly. My rating on eBay is 100 percent positive and its extremely important to me that it stays that way. Maryland bidders must agree to have all paperwork done at a Maryland licensed retail automobile dealer.
