Up for sale is my very Beautiful and SOLID Black and Gold 1966 Shelby Hertz # 2111 with 88, 300 original miles. This car is an original California black plate car from El Segundo. I have owned this car for the past 9 years and it runs, handles and drives great. This is not a trailer queen that has had a rotisserie restoration. However the car is just about as true of an original Shelby that you will ever see. I will try to be as descriptive as possible about my car. The car has its original hood, fenders, doors, quarters, aprons, frame rails, trunk panels and floor pans. Everything is original date coded correct. The ford vin numbers are stamped on the aprons and have been verified by SAAC. The Hertz rent a car numbers are still present on the radiator support bracket. The only panels replaced on the car were the rear tail light panel and trunk lid in the early 1980’s. The tail light panel was replaced due to it having thunderbird tail lights installed. This was replaced with a true ford C6ZZ part number tail light panel. The trunk lid was replaced due to it having a spoiler installed on it. The trunk lid was also replaced with a correct Ford deck lid. Both of these can be verified in the 1997 Shelby registry. This car has never been in any accidents and all the panels are truly original and very straight. It will be hard to find a car more structurally solid then this one with all the original panels. The only item not correct on the engine is the carburetor. The engine does have the correct air cleaner and 6A base, hipo fan and fan spacer, intake, valve covers, dual point, harmonic balancer, tri Y headers, T-oil pan, alternator pulley etc. The engine, transmission and rear end have never been rebuilt; they have 88, 300 original miles. The engine is original to the car, vin number included. The transmission is also original to the car and has the correct C-servo and the data tag. Finally the rear end under the car is the original 9” with 3:50 gears. The interior in the car to include the tachometer, dash pad, seat covers, door panels, head liner, and plastic panels are original to the car and still in excellent condition. The carpet and seat belts were the only interior pieces replaced. Fold down carpet is still original. The car has a tastefully installed R model roll bar that can also be found in the 1997 Shelby registry. The wheels are the correct original magnum 500 Hertz rims. The car was repainted in June of 2010 and it looks Stunning! You will search for quit sometime to find such a true car that has all of its original sheet metal, correct number matching engine and excellent interior. This truly is a beautiful 1966 Shelby Hertz. This Shelby sets the standard of how you should grade other UN-RESTORED Shelby’s. Please come and inspect my car.
