Description:

1917 Studebaker Big Six ED Series 18 Touring
This 1917 Studebaker Big Six (six cylinders) has been brought back to life by a thorough frame-up restoration and complete engine overhaul. Every part has been sand blasted and painted. The engine has new pistons, main and rod bearings, and all engine ancillaries (starter, generator, carburetor, water pump, etc.) have been professionally restored. This is a California car.
A new radiator has been installed and all dashboard gauges are working, including the gas gauge on the gas tank at the back of the car. It starts easily (no engine cranking!) and runs smoothly on five new Goodrich 4” x 34” tires.
All of the parts for the top are shown in one of the pictures which includes the top bows and rests, and top irons.
The marque “Studebaker” is important in the settlement history of our western states. The Studebaker company first produced wheel barrows for the gold seekers during the gold rush in California in the mid 1800s. Later on, Studebaker produced wagons (prairie schooners) for western-bound pioneers wishing to cross the continent. In 1904, Studebaker began production of quality automobiles and rightfully became a part of our early automotive heritage. In two years, the Studebaker for sale here will be 100 years old!
