Studebaker Golden Hawk (1956)
for sale
Price: US $20,000.00
Price: US $20,000.00
The 1956 Golden Hawk was a real Hot Rod in it’s day with a
top speed of 130mph in a straight line. They were not known for great cornering
at high speed. However if you just want to drive at a reasonable clip, the car
will handle just fine.
I am selling this car on behalf of a friend of mine. See my other listings for other Studebaker's from this private collection.
This has been very nicely restored 5 to 10 years ago and has
been set up for driving and to give you years of trouble free motoring.
1956 Golden Hawks are quite a rare car and this particular
car is fully loaded with all the great options and a few excellent upgrades.
Thankfully, this car has power steering, as a lot of them don’t and are a bit
of a bear to drive without it, as the Packard motor weighs about as much as a
ships anchor.
Repainted in the original colors of Snow Cap White over
Ceramic Green the car looks stunning. There are some marks and chips in the
paint work.
Factory options include :-
Power Brakes
Power Steering
Power Windows
Power Seats
Tinted Glass
Climitizer - under floor heater.
3.73 Twin Traction Differential.
Radio
Clock
Modifications include :-
Turner disc Brakes replacing the front drums.
Dave Theibault Rear Sway Bar
Alternator replaces the original Generator
New Exhaust and Shock absorbers. Rebuilt Front End, reconditioned radiator. Tires are all excellent with the whitewalls turned
inwards.
Rebuilt Packard motor coupled with a mid 70’s Cadillac TH400 automatic transmission with a power
shift selector. In order to mount the Avanti style Power Shift automatic
selector, the front seat has been modified from original as pictured.
The rebuilt motor is strong and sounds as smooth as silk. It
shifts directly and beautifully with the automatic transmission.
Interior wise the car has been fully retrimed in the
original pattern of green and silver with white piping giving a striking look.
There is
evidence of metal patched rust repair under the front driver and passenger footwell, the rear corners of the trunk floor and
the lower rear quarter window area in the floor.
The repairs are not visual and both doors, front and rear
fenders appear rust free.
The previous long term San Francisco owner of this car had 15
Studebaker's in his collection, all of which are similar to this car. All cars
had nice options, retrimed interiors, recognized Studebaker upgrades and had a ton of money piled into them
mechanically.
Noted Problem areas :-
Fuel Gauge is not working, so the sender unit in the tank probably needs replacing or it has a bad earth.
Clock is not working.
Tachometer is not working due to the sender unit not being
present.
You certainly could not restore one for the money asked to
get anywhere near the quality of this vehicle. It is a great car to drive and attracts a lot of
attention.
