This is a 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo (GT) Hawk. It's been in our family for a very long time. It is a used vehicle, having been driven on the roads (within the city) up until late 2013. It's been sitting in storage since late 2013. It's been about 10 years since it was last on the highways...it was mainly driven at gentle speeds and gentle drives around the city.
It has a 12V alternator system, a Studebaker 259 ci engine, automatic transmission, 4-barrel Holley carburetor with
manual choke operation

NO power steering, although it is quite easy to turn the steering wheel, even when stopped. The interior is in very good condition, especially the headliner, which is in excellent condition. Most of the instrumentation gauges work (coolant, ammeter, oil pressure). Some, like the clock, tachometer, speedometer are either not connected or are non-functional. The speedometer needle I think might be stuck.
New water pump and coolant put in it this Spring 2015. New exhaust pipe installed a few years ago. Engine is strong and runs great! Headlights, brake lights, turning lights, climatizer/blower all work!
There are a few issues that we are presently aware of (see photos and the video below):Some areas of the exterior paint is chipped/rusted around the rolling edges, especially where the chrome meets the body. The paint around the trunk and around the hood (next to the radiator) is rusted/chipped/cracked.The rear passenger taillight has a hairline fracture in it.The front driver side headlight chrome shroud has pittings in it. The driver side front fin decoration is missing.The trunk area has rust that ate through the metal. This is in the very rear of the vehicle.The wooden decorative finish on the dashboard is peeling upThe heat control knob/lever is missing its end plastic pieceOne of the control switches is missing its retaining nut that holds it tight against the dashboardSpeedometer, clock, tachometer not hooked up or non-functioningRear driver side is sitting lower than the passenger side (driver side sagging about 0.5 inches compared to the passenger side)There is occasionally a whistling noise coming from the carburetor (can hear it in the video)The brake pedal has a 'spongy' feel to it when the car is not used for many days. Pumping the pedal up prior to driving solves this.The top of the rear seat has the vinyl torn up, including the vinyl around the back edge along the rear windshield.The driver side seat has its shoulder vinyl faded a little bitThe doors have a slight bow to the them when closed against the body.The driver side door latch mechanism might need to be changed in the futureOverall, this 1962 GT Hawk is in fair-to-good condition. It was driven at very gentle speeds within the city, up until 2013, when it was put in storage and its been sitting there ever since. It's been a very very long time since it's been on the highways.
We do not know how it would handle or drive at highway speeds!!
