A 1962
Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk with a 289 cid V8 engine. The odometer reads 75, 337, and I believe it to be correct. I found this car stored
in a barn here in Missouri, and it had been there since the previous owner
bought it in the 1980’s. I do not know the car’s history before that.
The car does
not run as it sits, although the engine turns when you hook a battery to it. I
wanted to sell it as a barn find, so I did not tamper with it other than
cleaning off all the dust and dirt. I have done no compression tests or
anything else to it either.
All of the
chrome throughout the car is in good condition. I have the bumper override for
the passenger’s side on the front bumper, it’s just not attached (see
pictures). The grill is slightly dented in on the driver’s side. I have all 4
hubcaps, but the front passenger tire was bad so I had to put the spare on, which the hubcap doesn’t fit. But, all the tires hold air now! The original
wheel/tire is in the trunk.
From what I
can tell the car used to be white, then someone painted over it black and
that’s why there’s so much white coming through in the engine compartment. The
paint has several cracks and scuffs on the outside. All of the glass is in good
condition. Door/window regulators work fine. The car is almost entirely rust
free except for a tiny hole in the trunk floor and surface rust where the paint
has been scratched.
The
dashboard and instruments all look great, and this is the model with the
tachometer. The carpet and lining on the doors is in pretty rough shape, it’s
pulled up in several places and the thread has unraveled in parts. The leather seats
are fairly torn up in the front seats, but it’s good in the backseat. The
headliner is good.
All in all, this is a slick classic car that would be a blast of a project for anyone with
experience or for someone to be taught on, and it’s just waiting to be rolled
away! The title is in my name and in my hand. If you have any questions feel
free to message me here, call or text me at 417-293-5107, and if I don’t pick
up there you can try 417-284-1544.
