Looking for an awesome shop truck? Need a quick grocery getter? I've got what you need! I purchased this truck as just a body out of a field in Austin, TX. There was no frame, and the floors had been cut out. I found another rough parts truck and welded the floors from that truck back into this one. I bought a 98 S10 Xtreme and used the frame to build a good foundation. It was shortened 14 to create a good wheelbase, I installed a powdercoated and chromed KP Components 3 link at the rear (I have the 2 lift bars if air bags are your thing), and added a pair of fully adjustable ViKing coilovers. With these coil overs, you can adjust height, ride and rebound. At the front, I have UMI performance Tubular Upper and Lower control arms with Delrin Bushings and upgraded ball joints.( These arms will accomodate bags as well) All the inner and outer tie rods, center link, and idler arms are new. Steering box is a quick ration Camaro unit. Another set of ViKing coil overs are at the front as well. Cragar Eliminator wheels in 17x8 with new tires set it on the ground.Truck drives like its on rails!
Brakes are Wilwood 6 pistons with drilled and slotted rotors on the front, with Blazer discs and with new calipers, rotors, bearings and shoes. Power comes from a Hydroboost system from a 1 ton Chevy. This thing stops on a dime!
The engine is an 03 5.3 with roughly 150k on it. The bearings looked good, so I just put a new oil pump in it. I used the GM muscle car pan for clearance. On the top side, it has an Edelbrock ProFlo intake and fuel rails. F.A.S.T. 65 lb/hr injectors, all braided -6 fuel lines, Aeromotive boost referenced fuel pressure regulator, Dual Walboro 255 fuel pumps. A stinger 80amp relay provides power to the fuel pumps. I installed PAC 1218 springs were installed on the heads in prep for boost. Vintage style finned valve covers clean up the heads for a more vintage look. Coils are relocated to the side of the block. A GT45 turbo provides the boost through a 3 intercooler. A Wyntom 60mm waste gate bleeds of the unwanted pressure while a 50mm BOV does the job when the throttle closes. All piping on the hot side is wrapped, while the intake side is all aluminum. Exhaust exits through 3 pipe to a magnaflow muffler. It's tuned on HPTuners and starts and runs everytime! Truck drives like a regular daily while putting around town, but comes alive when you lay into it! A rebuilt 4L80E handles the shifts. An aluminum driveshaft gets the power to the blazer rear with 3:73 gears. Electric fans handle the cooling duties.
The body was in a crappy primer so I stripped it down to bare metal to see what damage lay under it. It has the usual cab corner rust and lower rocker, but its better than alot of the Studebaker trucks I looked at. the truck has damage where the gas filler neck came through the cab, so I cut a patch panel for it from the other cab I had. Also has the usual rust in the cowl from the defroster being built into the body. I fixed one side, but never got to the other side. the body has dents and dings, but looks really tough as it is. But if you're gonna paint it, you've got a great base to start with no surprises! Under hard turns, the tires rub the fenders, but thats part of sitting so low! The Hood in these pics WILL NOT come with truck, it will have a Stock hood on it!
Bumpers are custom made units that will need rechroming, but they look pretty good as they are. Much better than the stockers!
All the wiring is new, the gauges are Stewart Warner Wings series gauges for that vintage look. They have aluminum bezels to look like aircraft style. A Prosport EVO series gauge handles the Wideband O2 duties, and a Turbosmart eBoost2 handles boost control. Interior is lined with dynamat style sound deadener, and has a vintage air heating unit. Has an S10 seat with a new cover, new door and glass seals. Truck has 48 Olds taillights with LED bulbs. headlights are HID units with halo rings as turn signals. I have a Newport engineering 12vt wiper system not installed.
Truck draws a crowd everywhere it goes! It's a blast to drive! I'm only selling to build my 59 Pontiac wagon for my family hauler! I have tons more pics if interested, just email me!!
Truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early!
