Up
for sale is my beautiful 1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk. This Hawk was restored approximately 9 years
ago, five years before I bought it. Restoration wasn’t up to my standards so I
improved upon it by adding all new chrome, engine dress-up and mechanical work. It has very small dings in stainless and some scratches also in stainless, none in body.
The car has had minimal use on weekends and to car shows. I was told it was a 45, 000 mile car, but ?
The
car has never been washed with water since I’ve owned it. I always detail and wax it, using no water to
rust out the joints or to collect to rust other areas. It has never been in the rain.
The
paint is great with very few flaws, chips or scratches. All chrome has been redone. Stainless is in good shape with a few dents
and scratches. All electric works, including defrost, wipers, lights and horn. Brakes are good for driving, stops good, but they are not power
brakes. Steering is also manual. It handles nicely on freeway. It’s a little hard to park, but this is made
easier with the suicide knob on steering wheel. All glass is good. Doors shut
great.
Engine
is 259 cubic inch. Runs great; no smoke, tight compression; tested equal and at
what it should be. Car goes along
freeway at 60-70 mph with no problems. Handles nice.
Transmission
is 3-speed automatic. Works fine; no
problems. About $1, 000 spent on dressing
up engine as shown in pictures.
Pictures
sum it up. Really nice interior, new
auto meter gauges, except one, water temp which I have but no sending unit. It does have a gage which matches quite well and does work properly. Has electric tachometer. Windshield cleaner is missing bag, so it
doesn’t work. Tires are nearly new. Exhaust is nearly new. Have added new power brake system. New duel master cylinder, booster, and over head pedal.
Car
is not concourse, but it is very, very nice. It gets lots of attention since it is on the rare side of autos. It has won several awards as shown in the
picture and I am sure will win more. I have received offers in last add of 15, 000.00 and will turn down offers of 16, 500 or less. this car is well worth the amount, it would be impossible to build one at this caliber for that sum. Paint & body would cost that amount.
Please
ask questions. If you live close, please
come see it. Pictures do not do it
justice. Thanks for considering this
car. I am building a 1961 Hawk so I
can’t keep both. Need money for that
project. That was the first year for
4-speed transmission and bucket seats. Approximately $45, 000 to build.
$1, 000
non-refundable down at auction end. Bank
transfer within 10 days. Buyer pays all
transportation. I will be here for
pickup if notified.
