Subaru Other (1970)

Description:

28, XXX original miles. 4-speed manual transmission. The car was painted black several years ago. These cars originally came out in the 1950's and I feel the color is well suited to the design and era. The interior was recently reupholstered at a significant expense. This is one of very few 360's that all accessories still function. Headlights, turn signals, wipers, fuel gauge, emergency flashers, high beams, heater blower (with perfect ducts), defroster, interior dome light, brakes lights, reverse light, etc. It all works. The windows roll up and down and vent windows work perfectly. Door locks work as well. The car has a completely new exhaust system that sounds very nice. Not loud, but just enough noise to let others know it's a 2-stroke engine. The gas tank was also re-coated and re-painted and has no leaks. Tires as nearly new (with the exception of the spare tire). The brakes were recently serviced and work well.
There is no rust to speak of except for some surface typical of a 45 year old car. The engine fires up first quickly every time. It's a very dependable car, in fact I've been using it as my daily driver for the last few weeks. I am able to reach 60+mph on flat ground and it is actually slightly faster than my 360 van.
Of course, this is not a full restoration type vehicle, more of a well kept original with some updates. Therefore there are some minor quirks about the car such as the 2nd gear synchro does not work as well as it could. This only means that 1st to 2nd gear shifts must be performed at no more than 12 mph to avoid grinding. I am including a brand new custom made set of synchros for the new owner to install if he/she so desires. Also, there are a few small defects in the paint which I've tried to highlight in the photos. The original floor covering is intact and in good condition, however the driver's side has been replaced with a slightly different type of material. It works well so I would leave it as is because finding the original covering is next to impossible. Headliner is original. The bumpers are in good shape, but the rear one could use a re-chroming. The emergency brake is not connected, but I do have the cables and will include them with the sale.
The engine itself runs excellent and the oil injection system works as it should. The engine bay and under the front hood could use some cosmetic finishing. This was not high on my list of priorities with the car.
An interesting note about this car is that it was featured in the Amazon original series The Man in the High Castle. I will provide photos from the set to the new owner.
Good luck bidders and if you have any questions I'll do my best to respond quickly.
