Up for sale is my 2004 Black Java Pearl WRX. I bought this car brand new from a dealership in New York and it was/is my dream car. However, I have a child on the way and need a more practical car for my growing family. This was the top of the line wrx at the time of purchase. It includes basically every option including: Special Black Java Pearl metalic paint, spoiler, Premium sound with factory subwoofer under passenger seat and upgraded speakers/tweeters, cold weather package with heated seats and windshield washer fluid, sunroof with tilt option, auto dimming rear-view mirror with compass, and upgraded armrest. I consistently get 27-29 mpg on highway driving and generally 22-24 in the city, pretty great for a car such as this. There are 126, 175 miles on the odometer, it's my daily driver so slightly more milage will be on it at the end of the auction.
I have maintained this car well and the oil has been changed every 3-4000 miles for the entire life of the car. I believed in keeping the car stock and not messing with what Subaru originally equipped the car with, no crazy aftermarket exhausts, turbo timers, intakes, etc. It has been rock-solid dependable through years of New England winters and has never let me down. I live on a huge hill and have never felt unsafe in this car, even going up hill in a foot+ of snow. If you know what Boston winters can look like, know that this WRX has never even come close to getting stuck in the worst that has been thrown at it.
Being 14 years old, there are some minor dings, dents, and scratches but the body and paint are in overall good shape. There is a tiny amount of rust starting to bubble on the side of the rear right door but that's all I can see. Also, there is some minor rust underneath the radiator that I can see. The interior is in great shape with no major stains or rips. There is a small hole through the original front drivers floor mat and carpeting. It is from where my heel has rested for all the years of driving the car. It still has the original spare donut and Subaru factory jack/toolkit.
Mechanically the car's engine and transmission are in excellent shape. When the car has been sitting for a couple days it sometimes has a puff of smoke on startup which I was told is normal for all older Subaru's as the engine can have a tiny bit of oil leak through. I had a recent compression test done when I replaced the timing belt and it came back great and normal, the engine has a ton of life left in it. I have to add maybe a quart of oil or so between oil changes.
Recent parts/maintenance include:
new radiator and coolant flushnew radiator hoses (upper and lower)gates timing belt done at 112, 000new water pumpnew NGK iridium spark plugsnew drive beltnew front brake pads and calipersfront/rear differential flush and refill with upgraded redline/motul blend to make for easier shiftingupgraded mishimoto aluminum coolant overflow canister for turbo (old plastic ones leak)new mid-pipe catalytic converternewer all weather tires with about 75% tread remaining
Within the last week the a/c belt snapped off and will need to be replaced. Prior to that the ac was blowing ice cold. The ac/heat only work on full speed (4) right now and I was told by my mechanic it's a simple $50 solenoid fix which is fairly common on these cars.
Known issues including above mentioned are:
A/c belt needs replacementheater control solenoid small exhaust leak just in front of muffler (needs catback as replacement)rear brakes are starting to make noise and need to be replacedsteering wheel has a small amount of play in it (not sure why but I've lived with it just fine and it has not gotten worse)
In summary, this is truly a great car that with a few minor fixes will be perfect and make someone very happy. I am not a mechanic in any way and have done my best to list all known issues. I in no way can take any responsibility for anything unknown that might be wrong with the car and no warranty is expressed and sale is final with no exceptions. Please do not bid unless you are serious and a $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction ending. Please have funds ready. Once payment is made I will fedex/UPS title. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping but I can try to help make recommendations on my end if needed.
