Up for auction is a very clean and original 1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser with only 132, 775 original miles. This FJ40 had been stored since 1999 until just a few weeks ago. After installing a new battery, starter, and some fresh fuel this FJ fired up almost instantly. This truck runs and drives very well. The brakes are firm, the clutch engages very smoothly, and the engine does not smoke. This FJ had been fitted with brand new Bilstein shocks, spark plug wires, high energy coil, and a new exhaust shortly before it was put into storage. The interior of this FJ is in excellent condition. The seats appear to be like-new with very little wear. The dash cluster and dash pad are in excellent shape along with all of the factory knobs for the choke, heat, vents, and wipers. All of the gauges work except for the fuel gauge, which does not seem to read accurately. The original rear jump seat frames along with the original seat foam remains with the truck as well but are not currently installed. The body does have some of the typical rust issues that are commonly seen with these FJ40s. The rear quarters have some rust near the top of the wheel houses. Additionally, there is some rust at the bottom section of the cargo area below the rear doors as well as some minor rust in the rockers and the bottom of the passenger door. All of these areas described are very common areas of rust and all of these panels are created in reproduction for an easy repair. The frame, all of the body mounts, floor pans, fire wall, windshield frame, and removable top are all very straight and rust free. The removable top has one small rear quarter window that was broken.
