Triumph Other (1962)
for sale
Price: US $200.00
Price: US $200.00
For sale is a 1962 Triumph TR4 project with no title. It was purchased out of Ohio about one year ago as a project. Limited time to enjoy the hobby and a change in hobbies means it is time to sell. Car was listed on regional Craigs List sites with no serious interest. I have $3000 in the car. At the time of purchase and typically at any time, very few TR4 projects are available. Therefore I over paid (clearly) to purchase the car. It has all the negatives of a Triumph TR project which is rust. However, if you are a Triumph or British car enthusiast, you know these cars have tremendous catalog support including new frames, new panels and so on. You could probably build a new TR4 from a catalog.
This car sport an early commission number of CT1930L. It was likely built in mid November 1961. The car is basically complete. The transmission is out and presently in the trunk. The motor appears to be set in place. It has all attachments to the motor (carbs, etc) The interior is complete and the steering wheel is in decent condition.
Rust out at the tow boards, rockers. No rust out in trunk. Small dent in trunk lid and surface rust on hood, which has been removed. Front fenders are there, original but bad. They are straight but floppy at the bottom from pinhole rust. Car steers, and tires hold air for about two weeks for movement. Appears to have period original wire wheels.
Car will be re-listed on CL but no price. I need to move this car out at a great financial loss. Otherwise, like all project cars out there, it will sit for years. I would rather not part out a rare early car, and anyone that is still enjoying the restoration hobby and has some basic skills can restore this car. As for the title issue, a bonded title is not an issue in Iowa, it is just a process that has to be done. I have completed the Iowa paperwork, but have little time to get into the insurance agent for a bond.
Feel free to ask questions but I do not know if the engine is numbers matching etc. The commission tag is in place and verifies CT1930L. Because I will be takinga huge financial loss on the car, I really don't want to spend hours looking for this number or that, but if you ask and tell me where to look, I will go check it out. Car is garaged, so it will be dry upon pick up, easily steers and loads, I can help IF I am here. Part of the reason for sale is constant travel for business, I just don't have time to restore this car.
if you wait then in 5-10 years how many TR4 projects might beleft at this bargain price? Call Bryan if needed at 515-520-2611
