Description:

1961 Triumph TR 3
This is a beautiful little '61Triumph TR3 in very good, solid condition. It is the product of a quality older restoration that has held up excellently over the years. There are no signs of any damage or rust repairs & the older repaint shines very well. It has some very minor flaws in the paint as one might expect from an older restoration . I mention them because they are too small and insignificant to show up in the photos. This is a car you would be proud to drive to any show, rally or enjoy as a wonderful driver as it continues to appreciate. I think it would be safe to describe it as a strong number three car on a 1-4 scale as defined by the Hagerty condition and price guide. The average selling price over the past 2 years according to this guide and several others is approx. $23000. Two of these recently sold at the Auction America sale in Auburn Indiana. One was a very nice show quality car at over $36, 000 and the other was a very average #4 car that sold around $17, 500. These can be seen on their website,
here
My point is that if you can find a good solid car for under $20, 000 you have the option of enjoying it as is while it appreciates or you can accelerate the process by bringing it up to the next level. These cars are extremely easy to work on. Parts are plentiful and inexpensive and the is tremendous club support.
It has had the carbs recently rebuilt and new carpet added to the exceptional interior. The top, tonneau, and side curtains look almost new and fit great. All the chrome shines up nicely and looks to be original to the car. The tires were recently replaced due to age. All in all, this is a car that really needs nothing and is ready to blast through the countryside on those beautiful warm fall days.
These triumphs enjoy an almost cult like following and club support. They make an excellent entry level vintage car investment. Parts are plentiful and inexpensive and these are as easy to work on as a car can be. This car runs very well and everything works just as it should with the exception of the fuel gauge. It is a two owner car from Grand Rapids Michigan and has been serviced for years at the well known British car shop, University motors. It has always been babied and perfectly maintained. It accelerates amazingly and stops straight and tight. Corners like a 60's sports car should and is a true joy to drive.
The current owner has decided to pursue vintage racing and therefor decided to sell this little gem. It has been kept in his racing shop and treated to a full going through so it is ready to go.
Please call me with any questions or concerns or better yet come inspect it in person. It is well worth the time. The reserve is very low and below market for a TR3 in this condition. We fully intend for it to sell so please do your homework and bid accordingly. I have included 24 high resolution photos and these are an important part of the description of this car. Please take time to look them over. I can be reached for questions and inspections by phone at:

We reserve the right to end this auction any time if the car is no longer available. I have listed and sold several classic cars from this collector with excellent results and feedback and almost all of them sell prior to the end of the auction.
This auction is a binding contract to purchase this car at your bid so please only bid what you are ready, willing and able to pay. This sale is not conditional on anything. Please do not bid until you are ready to buy. I require a $1, 000 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit as soon as the auction has ended with the balance due no later than 7 days after the sale has ended. The current owner can store the car for up to 30 days while you arrange pick up or shipping. But it must be paid in full as described.
