1968 Triumph Other

Triumph Other (1968)
for sale

Price: US $10,500.00

Description:

Want a nice project to keep you busy this winter? Up for sale here is a great all original 1968 Triumph TR250 project car. The TR250 mated the old Michelotti styled body with the new 6 cylinder TR6 engine and was made for only one year. It is now one of the most collectable of the Triumphs.
I searched a long time for a jasmine yellow TR250 project. I know what you’re thinking: “WTF!, he actually wanted a jasmine yellow Triumph?!?! “ Well, I wanted a TR250 and I didn’t want to change the original color (for resale value), so I went to British car shows looking at TR250 colors to choose the best one. After seeing all the blues, reds, and greens out there, I happened upon a restored jasmine yellow car. WOW! I thought Jasmine yellow would be the worst of the colors, but it was actually beautiful and regal looking. The light yellow is THE best color to go with the French walnut wood dash, a wood steering wheel and the black interior. Don’t believe me? Check out this restored jasmine yellow beauty:

Nice huh?
These restored examples are what this car will look like when you’re done with it!!!
History
: This is what the previous owner told me: He was the 2nd owner and bought it in Ohio. He painted it green and drove it for about 40K~50K miles. One day part of the throttle linkage came apart and fell out onto the road. He towed it home and parked it in the garage to ‘someday’ work on it. That was over 20 years ago and it sat in his garage ever since. I was real happy when I found it because it was exactly in the condition that I was looking for: All original, everything was there and it didn’t need major bodywork…plus it was originally jasmine yellow!
Since I bought it, I purchased many new and good used parts to do a ground up restoration. These are included with the car. I never started to restore it. So now I’ve made the painful decision to sell because I just finished putting a kid thru college and I want to pay down the investment I made in him (damn kid better pay for my nursing home someday!) Anyway, this is a great project for some lucky person who wants to put some sweat equity into a great classic car that will only appreciate in the years to come.
Body Condition
: No discernible body filler anywhere. Floorboards are in good shape. The drivers side floor has only surface rust with no pitting or holes. Passenger side floor is perfect. Driver’s side rocker should be replaced, although it might be minor enough that you could cut out the rust and patch it instead. TR4’s and TR250’s typically have rust issues around the rear top fender seams. The seams on this car look pretty good but the top deck needs to be patched on both the driver’s and passenger sides where it meets the fenders. Rear trunk floor has only surface rust. Tray under the battery has a pin hole. Fenders need a few patches. Rear trunk lid needs some dolly work, as does various areas throughout the car. This is all typical stuff for a 47 year old car. I have spare front and rear bumpers that a chrome shop can fix-up nicely.
Frame and mechanicals
: The car was driven right up to where the previous owner stored it. He said he had the engine rebuilt at some point but couldn’t remember how many miles was on the rebuild. The engine turns over. The frame looks good, including around the rear trailing arms. Fuel, cooling, brakes are all there, but of course everything needs restoration.
Interior
: All original interior needing restoration.
Wheels and tires
: Has original wheels with the studs for snapping on the hubcaps (I have 3 of the original hub caps). I was going to get chrome wires and redlines.
Spare Parts
: I have more than $2, 000 in spares for the car, including new TRF front and rear wiring harnesses, boxes of other new parts (see pics), spare used bumpers for restoration and more used but good parts.
