Description:

Hello, this rare 1967 Triumph TR4A straight axle car has been in my family for about 35 Years. The straight axle TR4A was a limited run production ( exact #'s unknown to me ) as most TR4A's are IRS rear. The race guys apparently didn't want the live axle so a limited number were built with the straight axle to accommodate this demand. This car was obtained by my father in Western/Central Canada as a pretty much rust free car when purchased. The car was rarely used by him, and when he passed years ago I purchased it from the estate. I proceeded to rebuild the car around 2002 or 2003 ? I replaced trunions brake parts bearings and many wear type mechanical parts. The engine was detailed and many parts cad plated and or polished. The body was prepped and it was sprayed red. The paint is a home job and a 10 footer at best ( my skills have since improved some since then ), I rarely drove the car and so it has sat indoors then under cover since 2006. The tires and wheels were new when redone, tires are Dunlops and still look great and hold air, the wheels have held up well as well. The car has handled the sit quite well and a full; However, light restoration will be needed. The chrome is all pretty good as well as most lenses and trim parts. I started installing the brand new wood dash and glove box, as well as passenger grab handle. I have 2 new door panels and toppers as well as a brand new convertible top ( all go with the car ). I also have 2 full cockpit covers with central zipper, 1 white 1 black ) as well as top cover. This car really deserves to be restored to its former glory, and should not take much work to bring it back. Bear in mind the engine or drivetrain have not been used in almost 10 years, although I think it did run 5 years ago to be moved. The original wheels and hub caps are also going with the car if I am able to locate them, I have the hub caps for sure not 100% on all 4 wheels. Ask questions schedule a viewing, it will be worth the trip. Remember bidding is a commitment to buy, and it is being sold as is where is with no warranty implied or expressed. I have not had a chance to get underneath to obtain photos, nor did I remove from its covered location so the pictures are showing it as it sits. If anyone wants more photos of a specific area I will do my best. Again ask questions, come look at this fine automobile. Clear ownership in my name ready for that next good home.
Hello, I have had some questions about documentation. Here is all I have found. My father actually had a safety check and appraisal on the vehicle in July/ Aug. 1982 so actually in family for 33 years. In 1982 the mileage as stated on the safety check was 83077 miles. Currently odometer showing 90786 so car has only had 7709 miles in those nearly 33 years. I have found the steel wheels 4 with old tires which seem in decent condition ( Michelin tires ) and a 5th bare rim. These rims have the tits which accept the hub caps of which I do have the original 4 in decent shape. I will try to get more or better photos posted, but I am kind of overwhelmed right now.
* **I have added pictures of the underside you can see the frame and floor in my opinion are excellent, the lower outer rockers are soft as well as the lower portion of the left front fender. The inner wheel wells and trunk are solid, very solid. I did take pictures of these areas and some better pictures of the engine bay which is very solid as well. I took a picture of 1 wheel with hub cap as well. If you want pictures of a certain area I will see what I can do. I didn't get a chance to turn the engine as yet, so lets assume it would be rebuildable at least, it was running fine 2-3 years ago. If I get a chance prior to auction end to turn engine either with starter or by hand I will post. Thanks, as you can see little work to make an awesome and valuable car.
* ***Update, so pulled the spark plugs earlier today sprayed a little lubrication in the cylinders and let sit. Just popped a good battery in ( remembered Pos. ground ) Turned key and like magic it turns over. I would assume the engine would run with a little T.L.C. and will not need rebuilt until you are ready to do so. As well I uploaded all the pictures I was allowed by EBay but I did have more. I took pictures of the bottom of the doors and they are perfect really perfect. I pulled back one door panel and inside the doors are the same 100% and now pretty well sure original color was red ! So all you watchers, time to bid and don't let this one get away, aside from the few soft spots and rust in lower fender and outer rockers this car is near perfect and all there, wiring lights Brand new top ready to install, new door panels and toppers. Carpet is decent, wheels, tires are new. You know the value, this is a great light project or awesome beginning to a concourse restoration. Either way worth much more than the starting bid.
UPDATE RELIST* * I installed a battery this battery NOT included with sale, but even with 10 year old stale gas sitting in the car I got it to start right up, it will idle and rev up so I believe with new gas and an oil change it should run just fine. Remember though it has sat for some time so that being said it may be better to have a closer look at the engine, but no worries it is running.
* **Yes this is the same car ! The last listing I had poor pictures of the dirty car as it sat since 2006. I didn't get the results I wanted even though I knew this valuable car was priced to sell. So I decided to wipe off the dust take some better pictures and get the engine started. Now the watchers and interested persons can see what I knew I had. If you wish further pictures let me know and I will see if I can get them emailed to you. Look at the other similar cars asking 18-30 thousand dollars. This is a steal, just waiting for a new home. Don't miss out this time round. Good luck.
