1959 Triumph Other

Triumph Other (1959)
for sale

Price: US $8,900.00

Description:

This TR3 is in very good condition. It was the subject of restoration about 25 years ago and although the paint shows chips and scrapes of the interceding years, there are no new rust or damage issues. I was mainly interested in having a presentable daily or weekend driver that has power and awesome fun per gallon. Acceleration is eye blurring. This car turns heads on the road from its appearance, performance, and throaty exhaust note.
The top and tonneau look like new, though the tonneau needs to be stretched now and then to compensate for shrinkage when not being used. The chrome is not pitted and polishes to a brilliant shine. The tires are new 175/65 R 15 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3s which put more tread on the ground and corner excellently. The interior carpet is unblemished and the seat covers are Moss style replacement. A prior owner, probably the restorer, foolishly painted the dash. This annoys me, and installation of a new cloth fabric face is scheduled, and may be done before the buyer takes delivery, but if not, I will deduct $200 from the price for this work.
What's new. The following additional parts/items have been replaced or added: A 4 into 1 tubular header, new top and bottom windshield rubber; front wing mirrors; water pump, pulley and belt; new fuel pump; new high torque starter; new speedo and tach cables; oil filter converted to spin-on; gas tank interior flushed and coated; a Parts are plentiful and inexpensive and these are as easy to work on as a car can be. It accelerates amazingly and stops straight and tight. Corners like a 60's sports car should and is a true joy to drive.
Also included: A like-new TR3 OEM steering wheel, a solid loaded TR3 83mm head and intake, one excellent TR3 starter and one usable, a new right front TR3 fender, 4 TR6 wire wheels w/hubs and knock-offs (used)
needs attention: gas gauge sender, air scoop pull, right turn signal, dash lights, as usual there is a plastic insert in the battery box because of acid overflow sometime in the past 64 years.
Please call or email with any questions, concerns or request for more pictures. The reserve is $11, 500. which is only twice the value of the engine upgrade. The car is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to withdraw the listing if it becomes unavailable. The photos re an important part of the description of this car; please take time to look them over. I can be reached for questions and inspections by phone at 561 715 8464

“I've owned this TR3A since 1999. It was restored about 25 years ago with new floor pans and new interior; any body issues were fixed then and have held up since, although there are three "bubbles" on the right front fender in front of the door (a new right front fender is included) and I do not know how the body work was done except that the it looks good. Because it looked OK, body and paint were lower priority than an engine upgrade and other performance improvements. The car has been driven weekends and has not been wet since I bought it. Over time I gathered the parts I needed and finally installed them early this year. The 2188 cc engine includes 87mm pistons and sleeves, with a shaved TR4 head, with no-lead valves in ground seats, with rebuilt and re-jetted SUs. All controls and instruments work well unless noted below, All work done by Bruce Hutchinson, noted retired Rolls Royce mechanic.”
