Last auction's winner emailed me that ... this was an Error bead please cancel..., so I am re-listing at a lower price and hoping it runs up a bit.

1971 Triumph Spitfire Convertible

A very solid, nearly original example. Aluminum slotted mag wheels, dual SU carbs, exhaust headers, Monza dual exhaust. Engine runs well, no leaks, pulls hard. Better than average acceleration for a Spitfire. Exhaust note is very mellow.
Runs, drives well, but needs some work to make it reliable. I have put about 50 miles on it since cleaning out fuel system and replacing fuel pump after purchasing it, have not had any problems. I am looking to move to a bigger project, need to make some room.
Looks like the passenger's side rocker may have been replaced at one time and car repainted, other than that pretty much factory original. Inner rockers are excellent, outer rockers very good except dent in one and minor thru rust in the other. Drivers door has the broken check strap open door into hood dent, passengers door has some minor rust at bottom. The drivers side front floor had very small spot of thru rust and was a bit weak. I fiber-glassed over it. Front corner valences are solid, just a bit of rust showing on one of them. Center front valence is dented, can be salvaged with some hammer work. Hood is solid, fender flanges have been bent upwards to provide additional wheel clearance for mag rims. Trunk is solid, but trunk lid needs some attention. Bumpers are all straight, no pitting, but chrome looks it's age.
Interior is in decent shape. There is an extra hole in the drivers side dash panel that will need a black plug button over it or otherwise repaired. The drivers seat bottom seams are separated in a few places, and foam in both seats is getting weak in spots. Channels slide freely, seats fold properly. Carpet is not bad, but over the transmission carpet is black outdoor carpeting, not looped pile like the rest of it. Triumph rubber floor mats in front foot wells, no carpet.
All the electrical systems work. I have bypassed the troublesome glass fuses and installed modern plug in fuses. You do not see them, looks original, but works, unlike original.
Needs the usual suspension work. Should have trunnions, u-joints, shocks, and springs at some point. I have installed a few new bits: tranny mounts, rear shocks, bonnet locating pins, oil filter. Fresh engine oil, tranny oil, diff oil.
A little work and this would be a great run-around driver. A bit more work and it could be a show winner. A good solid place to start either way. Either way, this is a project car needing some attention.
Please contact me if you would like to schedule a time to have a look and a drive. I will be as forthright in describing the car as possible. I think I have covered everything here, but please have a careful look and ask any questions before bidding.
