FOR SALE:
Very nice, solid Spitfire. This car has been garaged all of its life and does not suffer from rust other than surface rust/oxidation on some bare metal.
The car was repainted about 25 years ago in the same factory color coded color. It was taken down to bare metal so there is only 1 layer of paint on it and you would never know it was painted excepted for a tiny bit of overs pray on the bottom of the from rubber bumper. There are a couple paint dings and chips from pebbles and a little paint loss around the bottom of the driver side headlight - the size of a silver dollar or so.
There is no carpet in the car but the seats have been recently refoamed and recovered, as well as new door panels. The wood dash face was re-venered and finished and is in absolutely excellent condition. The foam dash pad does not have any cracks that I can see. Tires are about 3 years old and have about 90+% tread left.
The car has an HS4 dual carb setup, but does not have air cleaners on them.
Floors and trunk are solid, as well as all the panels and frame. All gauges and electrical works as designed. The only electrical problem that I have had on the car was loosing the brake lights due to a bad connection at the firewall and that has been fixed. Not sure if the windshield wiper fluid pump works or not, but there is a brand new, OEM one included with the spare parts.
The car comes with a steel factory hardtop (black) that is in pretty decent shape. Glass is good and it has a decent headliner in place, but could probably use a cleaning. I've never had it installed on the car so never bothered. It came off an identical 1976 Spitfire parts car and has the necessary hardware to mount.
There is a tonneau cover included for this car, as well as another one for a different year - not sure what year but they are both in like-new condition.
THE BAD:
Nothing bad on this car.
THE MEDIOCRE:
The soft top is okay but has yellowing of the windows, as well as a tear, about 2 inches, by the rear quarter window. There might be one or two more, but to small for me to remember. Top is always down and covered up because this is a good weather car.
Drivers side door needs to be opened with the outside handle, which is as easy, or easier than with the inside. The problem is a tiny little plastic piece that holds the handle rods together. It broke once and I replaced it with a 40 year old part and that broke too. Its about a 10 minute fix and I would be surprised if the part cost more that a buck or maybe 2, but I could never be bothered with it.
It runs a little rich (maybe because it was set for sea level and I'm at 4, 500')
Also, the timing could probably be fine tuned which is super easy. It runs great now, but it runs really good over a wide range of timing setting, so I'm sure its not optimally set right now.
I have antique plates on it because it did not pass emissions.
It does not have overdrive.

THE BONUS:
There is a pretty extensive amount of new, OEM parts that come with it. Also, a new set of lowering springs for the front (lowers about and inch) and also a Keihin carb setup, with intake manifold. The setup cost about $1600 new. They are maybe 3 or 4 years old and in perfect shape, not sure what they are worth now, but a nice chunk of change I would think.
Its a 40 year old British car and is not being sold as new and problem free, although I'm not having any problems with it. Things will go wrong but parts are readily available and its VERY easy to work on.
THE DEAL:
500 bucks at the end of auction from the winner and full payment a few days later. Buyer ships if needed, but I will do everything I can to assist the shipper.
