Price: US $810.00
Up for your consideration is a 1975 Triumph Spitfire.
As you will see in the photos, this car is extremely solid! The trunk floor, battery tray, and the floor pans are solid and in excellent condition. The rockers and quarters are solid as well!
The interior in this car is in very nice condition. The seats, wood dash, door panels, and carpet are the original and are still in great shape. You'll notice that the section of carpet that covers the rear seat area is missing. It's been that way since I owned the car and with the rest of the carpet being in such good condition, I saw no need to buy a new set.
This car has been stored indoors since the mid to late 80s making for an excellent survivor.
When I intercepted the car it had been setting is a warehouse covered with a few decades worth of dirt and dust. The paint was rough and the 1500 engine was bad.
Being a Triumph lover, I gave it a paint job and replaced the old 1500 with the more desirable 1300. I spent some time and money on it and had some fun along the way. Being the car sets far more than I drive it, plus add that I acquired a TR250, it's time to let loose of the Spit.
About the engine:
The engine was rebuilt several years back and has maybe 20k or so miles on it and it runs very good. When rebuilt, it was fully balanced and some minor port work was done.
The valves and valve guides were replaced and the head was milled to assure it being flat - but not so much as to cause fuel issues.
It has the stock - Non emissions cam with the solid lifters.
Also has:
Ignitor Electronic ignition
Lucas Sports coil
New Fuel pump
New fuel lines
New fuel filter
New radiator hoses
New heater hoses
Reconditioned Radiator
New air filter

All in all the car is mechanically sound. I'm not trying to pass the car off as perfect or any of that. It will need some TLC to get there. However this is one very nice Spitfire!
Other parts recently replaced are as such:
Clutch
Clutch master cylinder
Clutch slave cylinder
Rebuilt brake master cylinder
Wheel cylinders
2 brake hoses
Brake shoes
Brake pads
Tires
Battery
Front Trunions
Rear Trunions
Tie rod ends
Outer rubber seals at door glass
Poly cones on the hood stops
I'm sure there's more, but this gives a feel for the attention I've paid to the car.
There is an issue with the drivers door not having a good fit. I am thinking it may need a pair of hinges but I'm not certain. I will look in to it and if I have a pair of good hinges I'll give that a try or send them along.
As said earlier the car has a fresh paint job. It is by no means perfect but it is very presentable. The dark green is hard to photograph. Although is does have a decent shine, a good polishing will make it gleam!
I'm also thinking it may need a hazard switch. When I took the car out of storage, the turn signals and hazards decided that they're not going to work. Being I'm not up to the task, that'll be something for the new owner.
The headlights brake lights, side markers, wipers, courtesy light, and heater motor all work as they are supposed to.
Though it has no soft top, this car does come with a fiberglass hard top. I will get a photo of it and post as soon as I can get to it and take photos. Also included is a set of top bows should you decide to use a top.
You will also notice in the photos there is a crack in the windshield at the bottom of the drivers side. It does not effect the field of vision but just making mention that it's there.
The car drives nicely. The 4 speed non overdrive 1500 style transmission shifts nicely, and the rear differential is quiet.
As for the chrome. The center section of the rear bumper has some spotting. It is smooth to the touch and may rub out with steel wool. The outer ends that wrap around the quarters is in excellent shape.
The front bumper is excellent! It polishes up nicely. The license plate bracket is very nice as well.
I have a few odds and ends that go along with the car that I'll send along. For example I have the padded mat for the trunk a set of window fuzz strips. Just some odds and ends, no big deal but an added bonus.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to ask. I'll answer the best that I can.

“The car has been setting for 5 or 6 years and has some minor dings acquired while setting. Left door may need hinges and I also believe it needs a hazard switch. The car runs and drives, it's just been setting.” |
