1977 Triumph Spitfire

Triumph Spitfire (1977)
for sale

Price: US $255.01

Description:

Brilliant 1970s sports car that turns heads everywhere. This is a remarkably rust-free example of triumph's classic sportscar. Powered by a 1500cc engine it's cheap on gas, and when new would pull 0.87g - that puts it firmly at the top of car and driver's top 10 cars of the 70s for cornering. Its also very light - it weighs nearly 200lbs less than a lotus exige. As one of the last of the Mk IV spitfires, the car has the upgraded rear suspension design to prevent tuck-under when cornering hard. There are many, many tuning parts and restoration suppliers so you can use this car for immediate fun now, or use it now and upgrade it as you wish. Prices are also starting to appreciate - just look at how much fully restored ones are getting.
It's in great condition for a car of this age - it's had a new paint job in the past but the car itself seems amazingly rust free - no holes in the trunk or floors - you can see from the photos how original it looks. It also has a brand new roof - unfortunately there is a small split in the back right window - about 1 - this is from some idiot putting something sharp in the back when the roof was down (it's less than 2 months old). The car also has a tonneau cover with it - the cover that you can put on all or half of the car when the roof is down. The wheels are aftermarket alloys with good tires.
This is not a new car - the driver's seat has a rip/worn patch on the top lhs where the seatbelt has worn it - and the dash has some fine cracks in the lacquer - the trim is dated - it's over 40 years old. But this is a great, fun, runaround. You can use it daily and find out that the car you have may go UP in price as you drive it. The previous owner had it for many years (also in Colorado) and it's been well loved as both transport and an attention getter.
I need the space at home for my son's Kombi project, so she has to go. Please feel free to ask anything, visit and test but remember that if you bid, it's not an invitation to then ask questions or test after the sale. There is no reserve, the car will sell to the highest bidder.I'm happy to help where I can with loading for shipping but it's best that you get your own quotes. Good luck - this is a good one and Colorado's incredibly dry climate has been kind to it.
