The successful bidder should fall madly in love with “the creature” at first sight . . . because joy will turn to sweat in the delicious hours that will be spent figuring out all the details and putting your own mark on this beast of a machine. There is much yet to be done. Who will rise above the grey muck of the ordinary, grasp the reigns and finish this magnificent project?
Engine: Yamaha SR or XT 500 single cylinder 500 cc. Turns over with good compression.
Suspension/front frame: Triumph Spitfire front double wishbone w/disc brakes.
Rear swing arm/wheel Yamaha XS650.
Springs and shocks Yamaha R1.
Major work remaining (beyond the obvious):
- Mount steering rack/ Steering column. Spitfire rack included.
- Brake and accelerator setup/ pedals, cables and hydraulics.
- front suspension rebuild (rebuild kits commonly available)
- choice of front wheels
- front spring mounting
- weld frame - frame is only tack welded together in many places.
- finish fuel tank, choose/mount oil tank
- side scoops for engine cooling air
- modify rear suspension for chain clearance
- probably another dozen things
