Unfortunately, the gentleman who bought this car new had a stroke a little more than 1000 miles after taking delivery and the car was parked and not driven since. With his developing neurological condition, he had problems driving. Once when trying to park it in his garage he scratched the side. He had the scrape fixed but repairs were done at a shop that did not do a good job - they didn't even match the original paint. Because of this badly done work as well as several other scratches and dings from the car sitting in the garage with boxes and other items piled on and around it for thirty five years, it was decided to do the whole car over. This is the reason that a car with practically no miles was re-painted.
This is the 4 cylinder 1.5 liter 71 hp engine with 4 speed manual transmission. It has the original am/fm radio, and of course comes with the original probably never used tonneau and soft top covers. So if you're looking for an almost new Spitfire with not much more than brake-in miles on the motor, this is it. The only place you can see its age is on the plastic rear window of the soft top - it has a little hazing. Everything else looks new. It is mechanically perfect. I included photos of where you would expect to see wear on this car and you can see there isn't any. The mileage on this car is as stated.
This is almost like buying a new car. So if you're looking for a Spitfire to last you a long time, don't miss this one because you won't find one any better.
